We arent a bargain at 75mi in championship with no team

Huge potential for growth.  IF media reports to be believed plenty of investors seem to feel the price is attractive.  I did say IF.

Likes of Ellison and Wang are worth billions.  Why did none of the two buy last summer when we were in the prem?  25 or so mill extra would have been nothing to them.  Iv a funny feeling the guys interested now are ones who can just about afford to buy but f all else.

Exactly. Anyone interested in the club now is just looking for an investment. Buy the club cheap, then get them promoted and double the value of the club. If a billionaire wanted to buy us they would have done it already and not waited for a few million to come off the asking price and the club to be in a much worse situation.

Meanwhile, papers suggest Chelsea are set to spend £15m more than our club is worth on 3 players.

More and more getting to terms with the big clubs effing off to start their "Super mega champions plastic league"

Just waiting for Liecester to be thrown out of next years Champions League on a technicality and be replaced by whoever missed out from Arse, Manure or Shity.

Fwiw I think Conte is a very strange choice from Abramovic. A 1-0 specialist who will bring in players from the Serie A, a very good league, but also the polar opposite when it comes to the type of football played. Those players will have a very hard transition.

Sorry, a bit OT

Bad enough bieng a joke all season, now we are a soap opera as well.

Will Gabby get fit ?

Who is the next board member to go ?

Who will be our next manager ?

Will we score another goal before the season ends ?

Is N,Zombie a real person or a statue ?

Will we get sold to the Chinese, the Americans, the Russians or the Fijians ?

Tune in tomorrow for some of these questions to be answered, episode 388

Boring and successful, yes. Boring and as poor as we are, no. At least all the off field antics distract from the fact were awful on the pitch. Although the pitch itself is lovely.

All this talk of it can't be the rich kids because they could afford us in the prem is unbelievable.

These people are some of the worlds richest because of their attitude to money. They certainly didn't make their billions pissing hundreds of millions up the wall on rubbish investments for shits and giggles.

If they thought the club, at £150 million or whatever Lerner was asking, represented poor value for money, they wouldn't buy it. It has absolutely sod all to do with how many times they can afford to buy it.

Would you buy a Big Mac from someone who offered to sell it to you for £10? Most people here will have a spare £10 available, but i bet no one would buy it because that deal is rubbish value for money.

A fool and his money are soon parted. These guys make more money in a minute than most of us do in months. They're not idiots.

Im not saying I think it will be them, im just pointing out that just because they didn't buy us in the prem does not mean they're not interested now.

Our current situation MIGHT make us more attractive to a buyer.

If Randy really has lowered his price to £75m then a potential buyer may see that all he has to do is get us promoted by sinking £25m or so into the club and we'll be back in the prem. With the new TV deal we could easily be worth double that £75m.

The potential for growth, financially, is a lot higher now IF Lerner has lowered his asking price.

Whats unbelievable about it?  If Ellison would be buying Villa it would be for his enjoyment in sport and will to win.  See the other sports he plowed money into.  Wang would be buying because he loves soccer and there is a big push in China now to get young ones into soccer to get world cup.  Villa would be high profile, if they were in prem.  Neither these two would be buying for investment.

The kicker is it's nothing new.  For all the money we did spend in the past, we don't have a player worth jot on our books.

Some players have gone as individuals to other clubs, transfer fee alone, worth more than our entire club is valued at.

Our last asset went for some good 40-50% chunk of our current valuation.  The money we'd have gotten from sky if we had half a decent season is probably worth more than we're being touted for...yet that donkey Lerner just squandered us.

Completely agree Stevo. If anything this relegation might be  good for us long term if it means a wealthy new owner and rid if Randolph

Wouldn't they? Now they can have both (assuming Randy has lowered his asking price), that is an investment with growth potential and a football team for their personal pleasure or whatnot.

The China thing would make sense.

They already bought the Portuguese 2nd division, and (I think) some French Ligue 2 clubs. They also bought 13% of Man City and more deals are on the way.

Getting a big (ish) club in England on the cheap seems like a no brainer if they wan't to expand here

No of course it's been happening for ages, it's just that we are now just a blip on the financial map.

There are probably 50 currently active players who could easily buy our club on their own without it even making a dent in their bank accounts.

You could debate motive all day get nowhere. Who knows why a billionaire buys a football team?  Could be a number of reasons.  Because they like football, because they are cheap, because they visited the city once upon a time, because they think they can make a lot of money, because they feel sorry for the fans (OK, maybe not), because they're bored and want a new project, because they have a massive egos and like the attention, because they can, because prince William supports the team, because his best mate has got one and he hasn't, because because because, because……..Wizard of Oz now coming to mind so will stop there.

Consortium of Laursen, melberg and petrov + other external backing wouldn't be a bad start ;)
