The Fun Factory Posted April 18, 2016 Share Posted April 18, 2016 If Lerner had any competence he should have sold up in the summer of 2014 when after Lambert's 2nd season- in which to be fair to Lambert he kept us up whilst cutting the wage bill. Instead we signed Joe Cole and Kierian Richardson and barely stayed up. And have been firefighting ever since. I just can't see why Lerner is going to get what he sees as a acceptable offer for Villa as a Championship side when he could have sold as a Premier League side in the last 2 years, and hasn't. He is going to skim the money off and wind the club down, and either we will get lucky and get promoted straight away, or he will sell up to a local business consortium in about 3 years time when we are in League One. They have both reviewed the club and would have great skills , experience and knowledge to assist any new owner, especially in the short term. That would be invaluable. If there was a sale and a new owner they would not be leaving now, that is also clear from mervyns letter . He wants a new owner he would be motivated to help out. This is not about potential new ownership which I happen to think is a huge smokescreen . Weve had leaked stories about delays in appointing managers whilst a budget is confirmed, we know they have had discussions with Lerner and now they resign being unable to do their role. Bernstein was chair of the football board he was responsible for appointing a new manager , God knows where we are with this now. It's pretty obvious that part of the changes they wanted and we're putting in place was a proper managerial appointment.
