I'm not sure.

The first two in particular lacked any kind of actual quality. But at least they worked hard. They were horrendously shit, but that Swindon side were no pushover. The attitude shown by this team is nothing short of a disgrace to the shirt, I don't think it's fair to say that about either of those sides.

The Sunderland team maybe, but it's a close call. Unfortunately for me football did actually start in 1992, so I can't see any further. In that time span we are certainly one of the top 5 worst sides I could possibly name, from any division.

I can't remember who it was but I heard similar on a podcast. The journalist said forget points total, we're the worst team in prem history. From what I've seen its hard to disagree.

I don't remember seeing a team have so little belief and give up so easily. Christ even that qpr team that was full of mercenaries on a last pay day junket pug in more effort than we do.

Derby, Swindon and Sunderland were all worse.

Derby comfortably so.

I suppose one difference is that Swindon and Derby were teams who got to the premier league almost against the odds and never really had a chance of establishing viable premier level squads. Sunderland have more of a premier league history but have always struggled and been a bit of a yo-yo club.

But Villa have been transformed from a club with a longstanding premier league pedigree and a decent record of top half finishes to one whose squad is maybe not even good enough for the Championship.

We probably deserve a special category of crap all of our own for that achievement.

I r eally hope once its confirmed we are downi don't see any of these players crying and acting like they give a shit as its crocodile tears.

They are a disgrace to our great club. I will always remember this side with disgust.  An embarrassment to aston villa fc

11 games left.

7 wins required.

5 losses permitted.

Not sure how can we get the required 7 wins if we lose 5 out of 11 ?

Still, it's more likely the laws of mathematics will change than we will win 7 more games this season.

stats can be misleading but definite worst team in Premier League history for me. poor manager, poor players and poor desire. On paper we are better than Derby, Swindon or Sunderland that went down which makes it even more shameful

We are definitely the worst team. We are one of the original Premier league sides. Money was not king back when it started so teams coming up were always up against it.

Now it is and to be in the position we are now just underlines the crapfest that is our club!

Well one upside of stopping following your team for 12 months, is all that villa cash can get spent on a virtual reality headset. 360 degrees porn should make up for the loss.

As we won't be cumming back up anytime soon you might as well get lost in the Oculus Rift and stack up on paper towels :)

If it's the worst team in premier league history, and a poor manager, how come we've got more points than other teams in premier league history?

Surely if it's the worst team in Premier League history then Garde (and Sherwood) have done well to get anything out of them?

Guess you can argue about factoring in the opposition? I have no idea if the PL was weaker when Derby flopped or now, and frankly i don't care.

Arguing over which turd smells worse is pointless, those Derby, Villa and Sunderland team are all crap.

Oh I completely agree. This is definitely up there with the worst.

I just don't really buy that it's worse than, say, that Derby team. I think people are forgetting how utterly shite they were.

Yeah who actually cares about that. One fact for me is this is the worst villa team in my year of being a villa fan and I am 33 years old. And we have had some pretty poor sides previously. But this side wow takes the biscuit. Never seen such a bunch of spineless losers in all my years

because I dont think you read my post properly, compared to them squads we have a much better resources and squad than either of them. for a start Derby and Sunderland had Kenny Milller, Jon Stead, Emanuel VIlla, Earnshaw and Daryl Murphy up front

Gabby and Ayew even Gestede is much better than them
