The Tim Sherwood Thread

Just had a bizarre thought.

Sherwood keeps us up (making hay along the way).

Big Sam leaves Wet Spam at the end of his contract.

Gulible & Mold look for "Landaner wih attackin flayer an abili-e innit?"

Sherwood goes a hero

Sam comes a God

Sounds like a plan !!!

dont really know what to make of it, its got potential to work because i do think he could become a very good manager but hes still early in his managerial career so we will see. it obviously could turn out very much like it did with lambert which would be a disaster and possibly see us relegated. but its a fresh start with a fresh young manager.

Horrible appointment but need to get behind him now and hope against hope that he can maintain our PL status

Quicker Lerner is out of this club the better

On a minor point - is 14 wins in 28 games a 50% win rate not 60%?

People are talking about his premier league win ration - which is 59%

4 out of the 6 games Sherwood lost in the league with Spurs were against Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City and Liverpool. He did lose some of them heavily but that seemed to be recurring theme last season even under AVB. They also had the Europa League which is always a distraction. So it wasn't all bad.

His record with Spurs is excellent, sample size or not. I don't really see how this is being augued with.

He's a **** prick, but he's our prize prick now.

Lerner obviously specialises in hiring pricks - maybe that's why his wife **** him off!

Sherwood learnt his trade at a smaller club in Tottenham and his time there was on the whole a success.

On that basis, he has earned himself the chance to manage us and he initially deserves the full backing from the Villa faithful.

It may prove to be quite refreshing seeing us trying to win games and not just accept small defeats or draws. We might even now score in the final third of games!

Come on Tim - show us all what you're made of.

I don't think "he deserves" anything he will have to earn it.

I'm dreading the foreseeable future for our club. I fear that his inexperience will cost us our Premier League status and Lerner will really feel the wrath of the Villa faithful then. On the other hand, maybe Lerner feels the players have had it too easy and that Sherwood will give them the kick up the arse they need. But, that usually leads to players revolting and that would be bad for a club with limited funds.

I'll give him my support until I feel he doesn't deserve it. I hope it works out well for the club and, even if he acts like a prat, he has the kind of success we are seeking. But, I think this will end badly for Villa.

Interesting to read that Friedel believes he has the ability to manage at the top level after his Spurs time.

Was brad still at Spurs/plying under sherwood

I like Friedel, always comes across well. That makes me feel a little better, I trust his judgement (when it comes to football).

Dunno, I always thought Sherwood spoke a lot of sense after games, and his refusal to talk in media-friendly sound bites was refreshing, entertaining and, in hindsight, usually justified.

Arrogant perhaps, but that's what we're lacking right now. I always quite liked him at Spurs, and he'll have my full support.
