ozvillafan Posted January 14, 2015 VT Supporter Share Posted January 14, 2015 Just wondering if Gil could also enable Cleverley to make a better contribution? Cleverly can fit the "box-to-box" role, imo, so long as we have a specialist DM (Sanchez) and AM (Gil) with him in midfield. Ideally we have some wide midfielders too so Gil and the fullbacks are not our only width.
lexicon
He fits that role well. He's not glamorous enough for a lot of people who don't seem to get what he does but I think he can do a good job in the scenario you've described.

Tomaszk
I can't figure out which one is worst out of cleverley and weimann Weimann is abysmal. Cleverley is just dull, at least he can trap the ball.
omariqy
Cleverly - great energy, keeps things ticking and closes people down well. I.e. he is pretty much the same player as KEA. At least KEA scored a few.

I liked KEA, but he was never consistent, sometimes he was everywhere and anywhere but more often than not (maybe due to injury or fitness) was so slow he couldn't close down a whore house in an Amish Community
VillaChris
El-Ahamdi had some good games last season....but he was still a bog standard average midfielder in the premier league. We haven't half signed some rubbish since Milner left and Stan retired in that area....a major reason for our decline from top 6 to bottom 6,

lexicon
Drop the words "that wrong" and you'll know why he gets lambasted... He keeps things ticking over in the middle - it's not his fault he's got **** all in the way of outlets to pass it to (i.e. Gabby and Weimann).
