Delph motm by miles, Hutton n 2

???

Sissokho was man of the match by a street. Even the match sponsors picked him.

Plus points-

We never lost;

Clean sheet;

Defence looked half decent;

Sissokho looks a steal, hope his injury isn't bad.

Minus points-

Never looked like scoring;

Gabby & Weimann did little;

Westwood almost lost us the game in the 90th...swap him for Sanchez;

We are still shit from corners;

Referee was **** awful, the red card was the only thing he got right.

Oh and it rained as usual.

Better get used to all those empty seats as well.

Nice thing about opinions is that people can have different ones

It seems as almost everyone is in the same camp, happy with 4 points, at our wits end with Gabby and Andi starting. I know many don't rate Bent, but with the balls we were putting in then he has every chance to nick a goal. I say start him in place of Gabby next week and see what happens.

Full game can be found - here - for any who are interested.

Yes gabby was poor but what a rotten role to play up top on his own with no support often. No complaints about clean sheet but at the very least if you play 5 in midfield at home you have to press the ball higher, put their defence under pressure, and the wide guys always,not occasionally,look to get forward with the ball.

Hutton motm, delph close behind. Westwood did well and the defence look fine

Seems like we set up for a 0-0 draw. At home. Against a non-elite side. Disappointing approach, but what's new...

Westwood MOTM for me, when he decides to get stuck in, he's a very good player.

Decent on the counterattack, but no attacking impetus when not on the break. Not enough creativity in midfield.

Good to see Hutton playing so well. Time to see what Joe Cole can do next week.

Two clean sheets is great to see, but if we continue to play like that, we will really struggle to pick up any points at all.

Good result. 36 points to go.

Sanchez showed a few nice touches and Delph looked good in more advanced positions. Fullbacks were both fantastic.

A good point against a better side albeit at home. We look much more solid defensively and although we didn't win, it was an improvement on the dross served up at villa park last year.

I think we're good enough to avoid relegation this year.

Glad for the point.

Had to watch the last half of the game with the volume down due to that nasty little assistant commentator with a Geordie accent.

Not sure what commentators you guys get, but this guy was ultra negative towards the Villa.

They should not have fans of the opposing team commentating.

It spoils my experience having to listen to the constant whining.

Chris Waddle does my head in.

That's Geordies for you full stop. You'll never find a more one eyed group of supporters in the football world. Horrid bunch.

Can't disagree with most of what's been said already -- solid at the back, midfield looks much improved, Gabby and Weimann poor. I disagreed with the subs, but I think Lambert's hand was forced a little bit -- certainly with Cissokho's injury, and N'Zogbia's yellow card also. But why Richardson, when it was obvious to everyone that Gabby and Andi were underperforming? Mike Dean was poor.

Happy with the point and the clean sheet. It did seem to me that we set up to play for the draw at home, which I didn't like. We did that too often last season. It's going to be a long couple of months waiting for Kozak and Benteke to come back. Andi and Gabby need dropping but I don't know if Bent will be an improvement -- certainly willing to find out, though.
