AVFCforever1991
I'd like to see Benteke and Bent start together tbh.
BleedClaretAndBlue
They did start together at Southampton too, lets not forget.. But Christian should come back in confident mood so I too would start the Bents at CC. Gabby hasnt done much since the citeh game to warrant a start imo
Heretic
But he's good in the air, just like Carew was I think we've missed a bit of height in our attack. Carew was a great bully up front. I remember him causing Cahill lots of problems. Heskey was a bully too and a real handful, but of course he was in a Leicester shirt at the time. He's a great option for Lambert to have depending on the circumstances. Defenders will always be wary of a big guy which can open up some space for the other striker to operate in. Rob182
oooh Christian Benteke oooh Christian Benteke - Seven Nation Army - White Stripes That can be his song when he starts banging them in the back of the net! I'd prefer the one that Leeds do for Luciano Becchio. Chris-ti-an Bentekeee Chris-ti-an Bentekeee
mikeyp102
They did start together at Southampton too, lets not forget.. I know we lost this game heavily, but how did they perform as a unit? (genuine question was away at time)
fightoffyour Posted October 18, 2012 VT Supporter Share Posted October 18, 2012 Hard to say. In that first game with Benteke everyone just reverted to McLeish tactics as they must have seen a big target up front and just started lumping it. It was completely pathetic. Ads
He played a fantastic through ball the Bent who should have made it two nil and had a back post header that was a whisker away from scoring. He's a good player. A bit raw maybe, but good nonetheless.
Demitri_C
They played together one game way to early to even make a opinion of them they need at least 4-5 games together before we can even base a opinion on how they perform as a unit
Dr_Pangloss
They looked good together against Swansea, away to Southampton not so much but then the midfield behind them were awful that day.

And the Fullbacks were given them no width.
Czechlad
Right now should be considered an impact sub. Gabby and Bent up top. Maybe Bent and Weimann and Gabby out wide.

I think he should be starting as will be oozing with confidence
CI
It's such a fine line, in other circumstances he'd have 5 PL goals to his name already. He's getting into the positions which is very encouraging.
Kiwivillan
I said Gabby would have one good game after the Man City and then revert to type. I was wrong...
Morpheus
Benteke so far has been very poor for us so i really don't get the optimism.
SikhInTrinity
Very poor, in what context? Seriously god knows what you thought of Balaban or Harewood.
AValon
impact sub? he is starting and scoring for one of the better national teams of Europe. I think he should be starting as will be oozing with confidence This. I originally thought he might suit the 'impact sub' role more, but he will definitely be on top of his game after the internationals. I'd go with him and Bent for the Fulham game and use Gabby as the option should needs be.
villan_007
Benteke so far has been very poor for us so i really don't get the optimism. Scored on his debut, has missed a few sitters but is getting into good positions, scored two in two for belgium, what is it you dont get??? I swear you are just negative for the sake of it. AVFCforever1991
Every striker misses sitters, give him time.. Scoring for Belgium, that's a good sign..
