Hmmm Kamala Harris's brother-in-law. It's a bit of a stretch to imply that she has the same views as someone she may not know even know very well at all. e.g. a spouse could have several siblings spread around the country married multiple times to people you may have only ever met once. TheAuthority Posted January 5, 2021 VT Supporter Share Posted January 5, 2021 However I do agree with the sentiment that Prop 22 is huge turd pile @HanoiVillan Really the story is, "rich powerful people use their money and power to gain more money and power." It's been the same thing forever.

It's a bit of a stretch to imply that she has the same views as someone she may not know even know very well at all. e.g. a spouse could have several siblings spread around the country married multiple times to people you may have only ever met once. The point is not that she is morally responsible for her brother-in-law (obviously not, and she has - rhetorically - opposed the companies' position on Prop 22), and more that there is the same revolving door between business and government under Democrats that there is under Republicans, and further that the nature of that revolving door in left-wing politics is that they will frequently, as here, be employed to find ways to harm the interests of Democrat voters. The main difference between the two parties in this is that they hire from different fractions of capital, not that they operate in different ways. Tony West, the man concerned, is not a stranger to Democrat party politics - he was a bundler for Obama and subsequently became an Obama administration official in the Justice Department. He was mentioned in the early running for the Biden-Harris Attorney General pick, though his star seems to have been occluded on that one. The bigger picture is that it should absolutely be an embarrassment for Democrats that the most-populous state in the union, one in which it is now almost impossible to win a state-wide race as a Republican and in which Democrats have a trifecta with a veto-proof majority, is a pretty deeply shit state to be a poor person in. The reason why it is appears to me to be that the state Democrat party is very comfortable with a 'left-wing' politics that involves lots of media and PR posturing about diversity, but is extremely uncomfortable about actually doing anything to help the poorest Californians (a very diverse group of people!) such as 'building affordable housing to end the homelessness crisis' or 'providing employment rights to the most marginal workers'. In similar ways, both Tony West and Kamala Harris - whose presidential run was largely bankrolled by Silicon Valley and whose pick as VP was greeted with relief by Silicon Valley CEOs - represent that very surface-level commitment to left-wing policies, and honestly it is a disaster for governance in California.

She is very wealthy now through her 'good' political works as are the upper reaches of society that she represents. Of course, how one values neo-liberalism will color ones interpretation of this political creature.
villakram
Two days of direct political high drama ahead. The Georgia results will not be known until Thursday or Friday absent a landslide, but I'm sure the exit/early numbers will influence the electoral college theatre tomorrow.
