MMFy Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Losing 3-0 at West Brom today, which could have quite easily been 4 if the Baggies got their penalty. This could be their year...
hogso Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 I was in Liverpool today, and some of the mopping scouse faces at around 5pm were very telling. Heh. I also saw someone wearing that bizarro purple, yellow, white, graffiti baseball shirt thing. Not sure which I found more amusing.
AVFCforever1991 Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 It will take at least a season. Will he last that long, is another matter.
Chindie Posted August 18, 2012 VT Supporter Posted August 18, 2012 Blimey, watching the highlights on MOTD, Liverpool made West Brom look like Manchester United on song. I think this may be a bit of a theme for Liverpool this season - Rodgers is going to make them worse before he makes them better with his philosophy. You have to wonder if he'll manage it at all...
Zatman Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 just watched on football first and they looked a bit similar to villa under houllier in that defenders looking uncomfortable playing from the back which really cost them, 2nd penalty was a prime example. Downing was "brilliant" as usual
Daniel Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Just watched it on MOTD. **** hell, how many chances does Suarez need?
andym Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 suarez is such a poor finisher, his chance conversion rate must be pathetic.
Zatman Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 I'd take downing back in a heartbeat I dont think i would. i think his confidence is completely shot. can see him being sold in next 12 months to somebody like QPR
AVFCforever1991 Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Suarez couldnt finish a sandwich, one reason I wont have him in my Fantasy football team.
Dr_Pangloss Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Stuart Downing always was and always will be a winger fit for a mid-table club (at best a club pushing for 6th place). Liverpool want to be top 4, you won't get that with players like Downing.
The_Rev Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 He was outstanding for us in the second half of 09/10. Liverpool though, well they are now getting **** over by a system they helped create. Cant sign players to get them into the Champions League because they cant offer Champions League football or pay Champions League wages. I'd be very surprised if they made the top four any time soon, the clubs above them are pulling away from them. In ten years they might be locked in as mid table also rans who have the occasional great season.
Zatman Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 He was outstanding for us in the second half of 09/10 really? thought he was ok but was better in 10/11 season when we were very average
Woodytom Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 He was outstanding for us in the second half of 09/10. Downings never been outstanding for anyone. the best player in an absolutely woeful team 2 years back whilst missing a host of one on ones/easy chances. Still piss myself at selling him for 20m. Tbh, still cant believe MON payed 12m for him.

On paper they have a quality first 11 though, if they don't qualify for the CL they should in theory at least be challenging all season (and to be fair they did that in the first half of last season before inexplicably crumbling in the second half). I'm very surprised that they are struggling to this sort of extent.

You just explained it yourself, they don't have a good enough squad to challenge for a full season.
PussEKatt Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 I think Pool lost because the WBA manager knows them insideout and knew exactly what to expect.I will be surprised if they have a result like that next week. 1
