Sam3773
Always have a place at the club. I can't say if he's beyond playing although apparently he's been training with the under 21's for a few months. He can show the others how to fight, but I think he should be looking at more of a coaching role now. Has a lot to offer which could be a season of occasional appearances off the bench, but most likely a coaching role.
mwj
Joey Barton is 36 and made the PFA Championship Team of the Year. Make of that what you will.
Phumfeinz
I bet he's quicker than Lescott

BOF Posted April 26, 2016 Moderator Share Posted April 26, 2016 It's good to hear that he feels physically able to even contemplate it, so in that sense good on you Stan and the best of luck with it. But with the best will in the world, I can't see it happening. And as others have said, we should be, and no doubt are looking at other options. But hey, if he does somehow get back to a level where using him in the Chumpionship becomes a plausible option then no-one would be more surprised and chuffed than me.
PieFacE Posted April 26, 2016 VT Supporter Share Posted April 26, 2016 I'd have him back to make him "club captain" or whatever role Gabby had at the club. At least Petrov will give a shit and would lead by example (you'd hope).
Mantis
I wouldn't be averse to bringing him just for the influence he'll have in the dressing room. If we had more people with his kind of mentality than words removed like Lescott and Gabby we wouldn't be in this position.
KSV
He can do it. At least we will know he will battle and inspire those around. He wouldnt accept the garbage that the current players are dishing

Stevo985 Posted April 26, 2016 VT Supporter Share Posted April 26, 2016 I'd have him back at the club for sure. As a player, I'm not so sure. Get him on the coaching staff and see what happens.

Gary Thomas
Definitely have him as a coach or something. We are sadly lacking people with character, fight and integrity. Petrov has it in spades - get him in.

jon_c
If his fitness was ok, I'd welcome him back and as captain, no question about it.

HarryYates
I suspect there would be a difficulty in insuring him again as a professional.
Zatman
in all the PR moves the club has done in last few months to get fans onsite this would be the lowest of the low. He hasnt played in nearly 5 seasons and it wouldnt be fair on anybody especially Petrov himself. He isnt going to say no if club offered him a role again
rodders0223
Is this a wind up? Get real people. His legs were going 5 years ago. I love the man but I would be surprised if he is able to even get back playing semi-pro.
