I don't care if he's even just putting out the cones , if I was a player every time I train id look across and see a guy who has been through hell and back, loves this club and still lives for the game. If he's in the changing room before and at half time, I'd think of everything this guy has been through to be sat here giving me encouragement so I'm gonna listen and make sure I don't let him down. Posted March 5, 2015 Popular Post Share Posted March 5, 2015 I think despite what the manager says for the time being he will be at the club as a "mascot" of sorts, for moral and likely to offer little pointers where he can without an official role while they figure out where he fits. They want to look after him and obviously see something in him even if they are not sure what that might be yet. If there is ever room for sentimentality in football then it is at times like these. They want to look after him and obviously see something in him even if they are not sure what that might be yet. If there is ever room for sentimentality in football then it is at times like these. However, I am also sure he will contribute positively. He will always have the support of the fans here as he also has at Celtic. The appointment is a good one for him and for us. Very few people know the team as him. Plenty of the players are ex teammates of him and there is no doubt he has a winning mentality. Both on the pitch and on life he has proved to be a tough guy and with a winning mentality that most people would dream to have. He surpassed his illness and he will be able to achieve everything he wants to. Speaking of football, Petrov is an expert when it comes to reading matches and football in general. He was our captain and when he was a player he was like a coach for many of us. He was always there to help his teammates, he gave instructions to make the team better and he didn't hesitate when he had to get in charge of the team to lead any situation. Also, he can be of great help to the players as Petrov is one of those persons that you want to listen to. Quite apart from his coaching skills and his fight for life....he is one nice fella from what I'm told from a very reliable source ,Stan is genuinely a hell of a good guy and was exactly the same before his illness....those sort of people create charisma and people want to do well for them. with a Football club that needs all the positivity it can muster, I'm just pleased he will be around the place as an asset to all. Petrov was diagnosed with the disease in 2012 and was forced to retire as he battled for his life but with his latest bone marrow test being clear, he scored and starred in the Central Warwickshire Over-35s Premier Division One Cup Final for Wychall Wanderers. Wychall won the game 6-0 and Petrov said: “It will go next to my UEFA Cup medal – every medal is valuable through my career and this will definitely go there. But it is more valuable than everything else – it is priceless. People may ask, ‘Why are you saying that?’ But I am satisfied. After my treatment people told me I can’t play football again, but now I can kick a ball again – even at this level and win something like this. I am still beside my family and I have managed to play nearly 90 minutes and win a cup.
