What annoys me the most today is Graham Taylor, the guy who explicitly showed what happens when you do not perform the needed due diligence on a new manager. People like him disgust me, people who have done very little to deserve the money he is sitting on right now. And why is he allowed an opinion? The last time he managed here he did a disasterous job, a totally inept performance and he was sacked. So I ask again, why is his opinion valid and worth an article in the newspapers? Atrocious!

Nonsense! GT's second spell in charge was undoubtedly poor, but he deserves all the credit in the world from the Villa faithful for his first spell. One of our better managers of the last 25 years no doubt.

too many rumours over the past 10 days.

i now have the following bets:

Hughes - £20 @ evens

Martinez - £10 @ evens

Moyes - £10 @ 9/1

Mcleish - LAID £30 @ 1/4

No offense mate...but what is the point?

You're just losing money!

I didn't bet them all at the same time!

I bet on Hughes the day he quit Fulham, as i thought it was going to be him.

I bet on Martinez the day Whelan came out in the media.

lost those 2 bets.

so tried to cover myself by laying off McLeish today morning.

and just put £10 on Moyes right now on a hunch.

I'm tempted to lay even more on Mcleish.

Someone needs to start a twitter rumour to send his price falling again. Someone photoshop him driving into bodymoor or something.

In deed our best manager, who knows where we would have been if he hadn't been in charge.

If Graham Taylor has some concerns hes more than entitled to have his say.

Exclusive news. There have only ever really been 2 candidates for this highly coveted post. David Moyes & Mark Hughes. Do not waste your money betting on any other possibility.

I have it on good authority that Paul Merson is currently smashed out of his skull on holiday in Madiera & is telling anyone who will listen that it's MARK HUGHES......DONE DEAL & he has personally lumped on £5000. Confident or what?

Anything else that is going on at the moment is purely cosmetic. eg 99% of the Villa fan base are going absolutely epoplectic at the moment & feel totally insulted by the Scottish Haggis's link to our great Club. Has no one stopped to think just how much of an insult that link actually is to Randy Lerner & the legendary General K? It's obvious to anyone with an ounce of sense that Randy would never consider this let alone let the damn thing happen.

Anyone who thinks otherwise should be totally ashamed of themselves.

SOME Villa fans should remind themselves of the words chosen by Mr Whelan to describe the way Aston Villa Football club under the stewardship of Randy Lerner go about there business

As much as what he said was true, he was also right there right then doing the exact f**king opposite. Whelan is nothing but a publicity seeking gobshite at best, he wasn't supposed to say a thing on the Martinez interview rejection, he only announced it once Martinez had signed a new contract (again not as reported by some) and he knew he was safe from his manager leaving.

Totally agree about Whelan's sly little PR stunt Bicks, but it did show how RL is going about this business.

Just found this for what it's worth

Randy Lerner’s right-hand man has claimed the search for Villa’s new manager is “not as simple as ordering a balti pie” and vowed not bow to the wishes of supporters.

The claret and blues are facing a backlash from fans over the potential appointment of former Birmingham manager Alex McLeish, following his shock resignation yesterday.

But Villa non-executive director general Charles Krulak explained that the club would select their new man based on his ability as manager and ignore other factors.

Krulak said: “We will not react to the nonsense that is printed in the media and we will not seek a manager who simply gets a thumbs-up from the fans.

“We will get the very best man for the job in our opinion and in the opinion of those who assist in the decision process. Once we get our man, we will give him all the support he needs.

“We have the old complaint of ‘dithering’ as if choosing and obtaining a manager was a simple as going to Marks & Spencer and ordering a balti pie.

“Randy has never failed to support his manager. I know it is a waste of my time to ask for patience and calmness over the next week or two but, be patient, it will get done.”

Krulak also admitted on fans’ internet message board Villa Talk that the club will go through a proper analytical process and take several factors into account before they install the new man into the job.

He added: “A great many things go into the equation – advice from people in the business, discussions with agents and people with access, research on everything from record of success to connectivity with the players in the dressing room, to effective use of personnel to compatibility with owner and people at the club, to many, many, other things.

“To some fans it seems like just a simple act and more importantly, a signal about ambition.

“As if one manager sends a bigger ambition or signal than another but fans forget about whether that manager fits with the club.”

Appears to be based on old comments for the General?
