Don't think my sarcasm meter is so broken as I think you're serious obviously but broken enough so that I cant tell if this is aimed at my musing or not?

If so, it was hardly a generalisation.

Too much thinking, it was a random crap post of a clearly silly point of view.

Although, I did grow up on a farm and it was my job to collect the dead hens. That line was true.

All good.

Spoiler

For the record, I don't mind being called out for being a prick, I just prefer it to be when its deserved :thumb:

And also for the record, growing up in a small town as I did, we mixed with all sorts. I used to hate a lot of the bullies and ' hard men' growing up, but then as i got older and hopefully wiser I realised their upbringing was rather more violent than mine.

It was a nature/nurture angle I was going for if that wasn't evident to people reading. As in, let's not be too judgemental and that. Until we've walked a mile in the moccasins...

It seems from what I read on here that everyone in the UK has boilers and radiators to heat their home.  Here in the US you don't see radiators except in really old apartment buildings in cities, and even then it's a central hot water system for the entire building.   Everywhere else it's forced air heating, almost universally gas-fired furnaces except older homes in the northeast that have oil-burning furnaces.

What's the reason for the difference?  Is it that buildings in the UK are mostly older and don't have space for the furnace and ductwork?   Is one much more efficient than the other and one of us is wasting a tremendous amount of energy?   Is it because US homes tend to be bigger and it's not practical to rely on radiation to spread the heat throughout the home in a reasonable time frame?   Is it because we're impatient in the US and are willing to pay a price for the ability to nearly instantly heat a space?

Its because we have a traditional brick / block construction, it's far far easier to surface mount everything, timber frame you can do a lot more both in terms of recessing and working within the voids, you can compartmentalise everything different to control air leakage etc

My apartment is a concrete frame but then I have underfloor heating, that's not popular in the UK due to cost (concrete slab, screed, timber floor finish isn't common anywhere in the UK let alone in housing)

Not being a smoker I always used to wonder do cigarettes taste different depending on the brand? As a kid I used to see loads of tobacco advertising... Rothmans, Benson & Hedges, Dunhill, Malboro, John Player Special etc. Did each have a distinctive taste? What was each brands USP?

Yeah they did. Can't really explain how though.

They do. As a former smoker I started on Bensons then Royals (as they started off with 25 in a pack) and before I finished it was Mayfair. I could get on with the taste of them but Marlboro was a flavour I couldn’t hack. For rolling tobacco I liked the taste of Drum and Old Holborn.

I don't think it's a problem at all. I bet it's not that many people who come out of prison stacked, and the people that do...it literally doesn't matter.

You may as well say anyone who is released from prison isn't allowed a gym membership in case they get stronger and more dangerous.

My brother in law was a prison officer for 42 years.

I've heard some stuff from him I can tell ya...and one of them is it's a lot of the screws who abuse the gym in the nick. So they can handle the prisoners that try to bulk up. And the ones who are just words removed. Of which there are many.

If and when the Premier League restarts, will the bell-ends at Paddy Power start a book on the first player to get coronavirus.

Considering they once included Ugo in a list of managerial candidates, after he’d tragically lost his life, I wouldn’t put it past them.

I wonder why I covet collectable records, then when I win one that costs a fair old sum I feel really guilty for spending.

Did it again tonight. Oh well, can't take it with ya ;)

Yeah...1971 UK test pressing of Surfs Up on two one-sided discs.

I've not seen one before so I was sort of forced to get it ;)

I sort of get it, and sort of don't.

Actual music, I'm all for obsessive completism - obscure b-sides, bonus tracks, remixes, alternative outtakes, etc.

But multiple copies of exactly the same music, just because the sleeve or label is slightly different, no, that just seems silly. I'd rather spend that money on some different music.

Sometimes I think about the scale of the Universe, within 5/10 seconds it makes me feel really strange and weird so I go bash one out to some busty granny porn to feel normal again. Or do I? 🤔😏

You can combine hobbies.

In about 10 or 15 minutes the International Space Station is going over.

You could lay in the garden and get one going whilst watching the stars.

Just bash one out thinking of Uranus.

Two birds, one stone, etc
