Harry
What I saw yesterday was a committed and gutsy performance that is often sadly lacking in many of our players although yesterday it was much more evident in the whole side.

He's like a little terrier that tries his hardest and will fight anything, but ultimately he isnt going to scare the big boys, a very poor player. What I don't understand is why Hutton is apparently "a very poor player" and yet Taylor who I thought was the worse than Hutton defensively and going forward "looks a good buy"? My worry is that we hound these players out for the wrong reasons and then replace them with worse e.g. I would have Guzan back tomorrow.

If he was on a fair, Championship wage, I'd give him a 2 year deal, no problem. He's a victim of guilty by association imo. His end product is wanting, we know this but he's a right back who ends up also taking on the role of a winger when that's not his main job. He's one of the few players we have who really takes the pressure off by having the balls and energy to carry the ball forward towards the opposition touchline. Most will want him out but on a fair wage, I'd have him as a squad member any day of the week, he has all the characteristics you want. I wonder if he's actually been offered a new deal. I certainly haven't heard about it if he has.

kurtsimonw
Really good again, particularly as he was let down by Adomah a lot.

I most certainly would in terms of playing ability but in reality his time was up as he'd been the scape goat for too long. I would also have kept and played Tsishbola and I certainly would not have bought Bjarnason.

Popular Post JAMAICAN-VILLAN
http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/aston-villas-alan-hutton-exercise-12664803 Quote Aston Villa's Alan Hutton: An exercise bike, an oxygen chamber and lasting respect - fan blog An Aston Villa player who seems to divide opinion more than any is Alan Hutton. I've always admired him for his tenacity and attitude and considering he's 32 years-old now, he can still get around the pitch pretty well. Probably the main reason I warm to him, however, is because of my experience of seeing him in the flesh back in 2012. Let me explain... A family friend of mine was, at the time, one of the youth team coaching staff at Villa just after Paul Lambert had taken over and during the summer of 2012 had kindly offered me an exclusive tour of Bodymoor Heath. Most Villa fans out there will remember that after Lambert took over, he jetted the team off to America for a pre-season tour leaving behind remnants of what was known as the 'Bomb Squad'. If I recall, as well as Alan Hutton, players such as Darren Bent and Stephen Warnock were soon left to rot in the reserves under Lambert. Anyway, I turned up on a sunny July afternoon, met my friend in the Bodymoor Heath canteen and for the next hour he took me on a fascinating tour of our club's training facilities. Some of what I saw at the time was pretty state of the art (and probably still is), and I could easily see why our academy was rated as one of the best in the country. Of course as we all know, that season it was some Christian Benteke heroics that ended up keeping us up. At the back we were horrific during 2012/2013 and if it wasn't for the Belgian, relegation would have come much sooner. The cold plunge pool in particular was very cool (literally) as well the brand new gym which would put any David Lloyd franchise to shame. After making our way past the training pitches and watching Gordan Cowans take a well-drilled session for 10 minutes, we entered the gym and over in the corner, inside an oxygen deprivation chamber, I spot Alan Hutton, giving it his all on an exercise bike. I mean, he was really giving it the beans; no let up at all. I was pretty taken aback by the fact that just days after being told he had no future with the club, there he was, busting a gut whilst the rest of his teammates were on the other side of the Atlantic being given the chance to stake their claim for a place in Lambert's squad. A couple of seasons later, the management realised that they needed a bit more steel at the back and Lambert ended up doing a complete U-turn on his 'Bomb Squad' policy and recalled Hutton. Lambert was rewarded almost immediately with his faith placed in Hutton after he scored the winner in a 2-1 victory over Leicester City in the 2014/2015 season And since then, whatever you think of Hutton, I'd argue he's been one of the club's most consistent performers. In a world of prima donna footballers throwing their toys out the pram at the slightest thing, I think you can only admire Hutton for his attitude since arriving at Villa Park. Not once did he complain after being made an outcast at Villa. He simply got his head down, worked hard and earned his place back into the side. After seeing him that day at Bodymoor Heath, it was clear to me Hutton was ready to fight for his place, even if it meant he would have to wait another season or two to win it back. yet again he was one of our better performers in Saturday's victory over Derby County and with the idea being now that we want to push for promotion next season, I still very much think the Scotsman has a big part to play. Of course Richie De Laet will be returning next year and there is new signing James Bree, but I for one think with those three competing for places in 2017/2018, right-back will certainly not be a position we have to worry about. kurtsimonw
Because he's defensively solid and we don't concede from the right hand side. Good to have two full backs who can defend, finally.

He played like he cared and was comfortably our biggest attacking threat. I'm generally not a fan of his football.....but I am a fan of his character. However, I was quite impressed with him on Saturday....even though the overall standard was iffy, particularly the last 20 minutes. I don't think it's wise to have 3 right backs on the wage bill especially since Bacuna can play there as well in a pinch. Someone, imo, has to go, and I don't see us getting rid of Bree. I also think it would be harsh to sell De laet.

Grasshopper
In the first 5 mins he 1) played Adomah into trouble 2) was caught out of position twice - only to be saved by awfull crosses 3) was upfield on a run whilst losing possesion Generally speaking he did some good to very good last ditch defending throughout the game most of it caused by his own inability to defend properly in the first place, the once slipping over, luckily the ball went kindly for him. Against a better than awfull crosser, we would have conceeded without a doubt. His shot on goal was unbelievably bad for a pro-Ball-kicker. Hutton is giving his all even more so atm as he smells a new contract. However, no matter how much or how little he would get paid, there's nothing AVFC could write in his contract that would make him an effective player for us (unless we end up a division lower). A tryer who gives 100%. I dont hate him for that, in fact I admire his attitude and professionalism. Such a shame he's so shit as a footballer. Bad positioning Gets caught out caught in possesion cant pass cant cross cant dribble goes walkabouts
