The Crown S2 was really good (I'm very embarrassed to say.)

Yes, it was. Apparently that Tony Armstrong-Jones stuff was all true, too. Quite an eye opener.

Watched 3 stand-up specials on Netflix recently and really enjoyed them all . There is a fair amount of guff on there IMO but these all had me laughing aloud alone, which is hard to make me do .

Todd Barry         Spicy Honey

Hannibal Buress     Animal Furnace

Dave Chappelle        Equanimity and The Bird Revelation.

I wasn't a fan of Judd Appatow's though . It was pleasant enough but he looked nervous as hell and there weren't many laugh out loud moments for me.

I've just read on twitter that old Charlie may have been nicking ideas from Karly Pilkboids.

"A love of two brains" coming in Season 5

What the ****? I said this as a joke.

Just watched "Black Museum". That can't be a coincidence. Two storylines in the same episode being from the brain of Karl Pilkington.

On the subject of Black Mirror, I think S4 was comfortably the weakest season of the show.

Hang the DJ is the only truly good episode, imo. A couple of the others were entertaining, Metalhead and Crocodile both had good storylines, but I didn't find the ideas behind them as intriguing or thought provoking as Black Mirror usually is.

USS Callister is probably the worst episode of Black Mirror there has been.

Still worth a watch and better than a hell of a lot of stuff on TV, but below it's usual standard.

For anyone who liked Making a Murderer or the recent OJ documentaries  I highly recommend watching The Confession Tapes.

Its split into 7 episodes but I am more specifically talking about episode 1 and 2 which follow the True East Murders. The reason this was of interest to me is because I had just listed to a podcast that covers the events of this triple murder with the Netflix show focusing on the "confessions" that led to convictions being made and asking were they real or coerced.

Its an absolutely fascinating case and even after listening to 2 + hours of audio and nearly 2 hours of video I'm still unsure who the actual killers were, would love to hear some more opinions on this.

Yep, I've seen those and recommended it earlier in the thread.

The rest of the series is ok, but the first 2 episodes (the same case) are by far the highlight.

It's genuinely terrifying.

And what were your thoughts? Guilty or not? (maybe spoiler it)

Spoiler

Not guilty. Hence why it's terrifying.

They were basically blackmailed over months, by the authorities, into giving a false confession. It was blindingly obvious from the documentary. Although I know you have to take docs with a pinch of salt. They only show you what they want to show you.

I think if I was on the jury I would have to vote not guilty. Without the "confessions" there was essentially no case against them and if anything the way they coaxed it out of them and the massive amount of inconsistencies during their multiple accounts of it make me think they didn't do it. Also add to the fact that they bugged the place they were living for months and not once did they ever mention doing it.

Having said that I did agree that the burglary did look staged and their alibi for the events of that night (purposely overtipping, and trying to get into a club that was already closing) do seem quite suspicious. Add that to the fact that they went and rented movies literally the following day after his whole family have been killed and missed their funerals while in Canada (again I find it highly suspicious that he claimed anger and disgust that the funerals were done without him knowing despite the fact that for Muslims they have to bury within 3 days (would he honestly have not known that)

I genuinely have no idea if they did it or not.

How have I only just found the thick of it?

Sullied slightly, by the fact that actor who plays that the MP in the first series is a nonce. :(

Brilliantly written show, and Peter Capaldi as Malcolm Tucker is now iconic in British comedy. Loved that show. Shit, I even liked Chris Addison in it!

If you've not seen it, check out the film spin off, In The Loop

The thick of it is fantastic. Chris Langham being done for downloading child porn was brutal though :(  I did really like him as a comedian up until then, he'd done a superb office mockumentary before then I think. Roy Mallard? or some such.
