It looks like:

You're being paid £618.10.

I'm guessing this payslip is from your previous p/t employer? The (negative) deductions are your tax being refunded (£617.40) minus a few deductions that they obviously haven't put through before (totalling £21.49) = £595.91 and then you've been paid holiday pay of £22.19 which adds up to £618.10.

You do need to watch and make sure that the overpay is then not also refunded by mistake by your new (current) employer.

Yeah sorted and into my bank.

Nothing beats having a massive bulge early on a Monday morning.

Have you seen the video of Jack getting ready for some of the scenes in The Shining,  scary stuff.  He basically looks like a boxer getting ready in the dressing room.

No, but sounds intriguing. Will have to have a look for it.

We've had a big move around at work, pretty much everyone has moved floors or at least desk.

There's a rather large girl in the office who I was just talking to in the break room and I asked if she'd been moved. She said "Yeah, I'm on the same floor, but I'm right in the corner now"

I said "Oh that's good, nice and hidden out the way, no one can see you"

She took it the wrong way.

Dem's gambling mate

found out on Sat that one of my mates bet £500 on Nadal to win his semi-final in the US open

£500 bet to win £200

I once agonised over putting $5's on red in a casino

Makes you wonder how much he is losing each week though  ...

Don't worry.  I imagine she probably chooses to take offence whenever the opportunity presents itself.

Seeing as she did take offence, you should have clarified with "Of course I didn't mean it that way.  After all, there's no way they could hide you".

Re: Dem's gambling mate a few pages back. Something vaguely similar happening with a friend of mine.

Old mate, always regarded by our gang as one of the most financially comfortable and money-savvy among us - good career man. BUT married to an absolutely batshit crazy bunny boiler of a wife, who's never done a day's work, and always given him a hard time. There's been an on-off separation/divorce saga going on for years - although to speak to her, you'd think everything was sweetness and bliss.

Anyway, yesterday, he emailed a mutual friend of ours saying he was in a bit of financial difficulty and wanting to borrow (get this) £150. We can't decide if this was a typo for a considerably larger amount. My other friend is rather bewildered (as am I), and a bit worried about this guy's state of mind.

Strange one, and I can't imagine how it's going to pan out.

Hopefully it's not the same as mine. I seen my cousin a few times this week and we haven't mentioned it just been normal.

It's hard if he hadn't had come to my house I would never have known he hides it well. Hopefully your friends not in big trouble and it's just a small loan

Well, we're still a bit in the dark. I mean he wants what is basically a trivial amount of money for a couple of MONTHS. He can't live on £150 for two months, so we thought he might be hitting up several friends for similar amounts, but it would seem not - he hasn't asked me, and I've checked a few other friends - nothing.

When this happens with previously solvent people, it's usually either drugs or gambling. I'm pretty sure he's not a junkie, and I've not known him to gamble much, but I guess you never know. Meanwhile, his deranged missus has been commenting on my wife's FB posts as if nothing is wrong.

I'm bemused by it all, but still a liitle worried.

Cry for help? A request out of character.  Enough to get you all asking WTF.  Maybe innocently arrange a lads night out, but with a view to having a chat at some point.

Oh, my thoughts exactly. Problem is, he lives in Brum, I'm in Leeds, and our other mate (the one he approached) is in London. And the mad wife basically has him so cowed that he rarely dares go out with us for a beer when we're in the same town anyway. She's a poisonous bitch, a total parasite, but they have a teenage son whom she uses as emotional blackmail. My concern for him as a mate is tempered by my wariness about getting involved in his shitstorm of a marriage.
