Jas10 Posted December 26, 2023 Share Posted December 26, 2023 Signings please… Back this elite manager… he’s not working with many elite players… Some of them can’t do what he wants/demands but we are also hit by absences through injury/suspension and some players are out of form. It’s a long season, there will be improvement and we have done so well… we need to keep momentum going and not be too reactionary or negative after the odd game. We’ll be back and better but… we need some more help and quality in there. A loss in midfield can't be deputised for at the moment; lose Luiz or Kamara like tonight and we are miles off the pace. Dendoncker just isn't good enough in there. Personally would bring in Kalvin Phillips if possible, although he may cost us too much. Between him Luiz and Kamara we would have depth and players who can be used in other areas when required. It covers all areas and gives us quality. Kalvin Phillips isn't the answer and would be too expensive anyway. We need a RB more desperately than we need a DM in my opinion. Both would be great, but if we come out of this window without an improvement on Cash we're rinsed this season. He has a lot of energy and always gives his all and I like him but don’t think he’s particularly great on the ball. He kills a lot of Forest attacks by making the wrong choice, lacks composure when it’s needed. You’re right though Forest would want £60m given they massively overpaid for him in the first place. First choice right back is the priority, followed by back up striker, back up DM and a back up GK. If we can do two of those in Jan, including the RB, I'll be delighted. There's no way after the 2000s we should be complacent about January transfer windows given the opportunities we had in some of those seasons and those chances slowly fizzled out and it cost us long term. We have a world class manager in place. You back him to the hilt (or as much as FFP allows). Every time we have a good run of form you get loads on here saying there's hardly anyone in world football who'd improve us. Had it the other day people saying they wouldn't swop Duran for any other back up CF in the league which remains an incredible statement to read. Tonight made it 100% clear we need another decent RB in the squad so I expect that signing to be done fairly quickly and to be available for the Everton game. We don't have that much ffp room. Definitely not if we don't get top 4. On 7 prem yellows so hopefully he's suspended for the VP game. Anyone know if Chukuweze is playing much at AC Milan? He'd be an interesting one to take on loan if available. Or maybe look at some of the players we've been linked with in the past at Villareal as they're having a poor season in the bottom half so probably be tempted to cash in and rebuild in transitional season.
