Absolutely the reason.
Popular Post Wezbid
In Unai's post match interview with the beeb, he praises him for his on the ball ability and recognises that he's weaker in terms of physicality and "duels". He stated that they're working on this side of his game to adapt to the Premier League and make him a more complete defender. Be patient with him, he's still class now but I have no doubt over the next few months he'll be stronger again. He's technically very good, they can add more muscle to him and have him duking it out with Duran and Ollie in training. He will adapt and thrive. 13
6065_Villa
Class player who fits Unai playing out from the back more than our other CB's. Once he's up with the pace a bit more he'll be some player for us.
Pinebro
Played against the worst side in the league. Looked comfortable on the ball but defensively far bigger tests to come.

But great timing after last weekend and will be good for his confidence

The_Steve
You can only play against what’s in front of you, Pau is getting valuable game time and experience. His qualities will ensure that he’s going to be a crucial signing for us once he adapts to the league.
DCJonah
I don't get this. This signing was seen by every neutral I know and all pundits I've listened to as a major coup for the club. And some are acting like they don't think he'll be able to defend in the Premier league. I'm confused.
JPJCB
While Everton are absolute dogshite, to an extent they are more likely to expose Torres’ weaknesses (physicality, aerial duels). It would have been interesting to see how he did for the full 90 had DCL stayed on. For those at the game, how did he fare while DCL was on the pitch? To an extent, I’m more worried about him against the likes of West Ham, Everton, forest than against arsenal, Brighton etc
lexicon
It might seem a strange thing to say but we bought Torres for his attacking contribution too. We saw some glimpses of it in the game, but he's got a beautiful long pass on him and the ability to find attackers from range. It's a very useful weapon to have, seeing as teams think we'll just play it short from the back.

He might not be making thunderous tackles but on the ball he's excellent
The_Steve
His ball carrying, passing and retention is top class. That’s why we signed him. He will create a lot for us when in possession.
KevinRichardsonsMoustache
A v v talented footballer.Smooth as silk. One question: Why does his expression always look like a picture of someone who is missing? There’s a sort of sadness to him

What losing Mings does mean is Pau has to go straight into the LCB role and not get added time to work on his game and eased in a bit to the PL. If it was 3 months into the season and Pau and Carlos were looking good and adapted to the league it would be less of a worry

AVTuco Posted August 21, 2023 VT Supporter Share Posted August 21, 2023 He'll come good. He is a bit slowish, especially his first few steps, so he needs excellent positioning. That'll come with a few games under his belt.
