allani
Back to being the team that has conceded the fewest points having taken the lead in matches this season. But apparently we are mentally weak and are throwing points away like crazy. 11 points clear of Man Utd with a goal difference advantage of 19 goals with 7 matches left for them and yet we'll be lucky to finish 6th. Some of the over-reaction in recent weeks has been insane. As @TRO rightly points out - we are a WIP. The teams around us have been in this position for most of the last 20 years (or longer) whilst we've been down in the dumps. Are there areas for improvement? 100%. Could we do with strengthening certain areas (especially defensively)? Absolutely. Should we be resting on our laurels and ignoring the areas where we can improve? Absolutely not. But is there a major crisis that is threatening to derail our plan and see all our players leave? Not at all. Learn and improve from our mistakes - but let's stop with some of the incessant negativity (for the avoidance of doubt this isn't aimed at the previously referenced poster as I get where he's coming). Should we have seen out the game yesterday at 2-0 up - for sure. But in seasons gone by we'd have gone to 2-3 and lost the match. As it is we dug in, got the equaliser and were the team pushing for a winner at the death. Edited April 7 by allani
StewieGriffin
United should win most of their remaining games - Bournemouth A, Sheffield United H, Burnley H, Palace A are their next 4. Arsenal H and Brighton A are the last 2, with a rearranged home game with Newcastle still to be scheduled. They should be getting at least 3 wins from the next 4. Tomaszk
I'm finding all the PPG chat irritating now. It's too much. Very much hope Ten Hag stays at Utd next season.

Mantis
15 minutes ago, grobs said: Another weekend where we haven’t furthered the gap Irrelevant - they only have 7 games left and the gap is already large enough that they already have to put together a ridiculous run of results to even have a chance of overtaking us. Also, we widened the gap by 2 points last weekend.
VillaAlex
Half awaiting someone to claim they'll catch the goal difference.
DeepDish
Lots of people in this thread that don't understand statistics and numbers. We are far better off now than we were three matches ago!

All of Bournemouth, Brighton and Palace beat them at OT earlier this season, the first two comfortably so. Bournemouth have got the personnel to run through that Man. United midfield. Hopefully it isn't a game where Solanke is doing about five step overs in the box before shooting. Edited April 7 by VillaChris
jayEm
United need four wins from 7 to overtake us. Two more wins and a draw for us and they’ll need to go unbeaten to do it.
useless
Manchester United could have won their last two and they still would be six points behind, realistically seven points with goal difference taken into consideration, they would barely have a chance of catching us even in that scenario, even them winning today wouldn't have made much difference to their chances of catching us, as they would still be nine points behind plus goal difference, never mind now whilst we're eleven points ahead of them and again with a big goal difference advantage
deeps
We need 6/7 points from 18 to play for. And that’s not taking into account if United drop anymore. Also need Arsenal and A.Madrid to do the business. West Ham would be excellent too but cannot see it myself.
Alakagom
I think Chelsea is a bigger threat than United, they have a direct game against us, they seem to be hitting run of good form haven't lost since February, but they got some tough fixtures luckily. That's why I think we should prioritise Conference League, as that will boost the coefficient for the extra champions league place in the league. DeepDish
And how can anyone seriously suggest that a team that has gotten two points in the last three matches suddenly go on a winning spree and get 15-16 Bpoints in their last 7 matches? Because if Villa get 3 points from the last 6 matches, United will ned to get 5 victories to overtake us.

Its not crazy to suggest they could pick up 16-17 pts from them. That means we need another 6-7 pts to make sure of at least 5th and I think that is very likely. Well we also play 4 out of the 7 teams they play against. The other 3 are Newcastle, who could easily beat them and 2 teams who are in a relegation fight. DJBOB
Maybe we should start posting it this way. If Villa don’t win another match, United will need to win 4/7 to overtake us.

It’s pathetic. Europa league is already guaranteed. Why would we take it! Barring some unfortunate results in Europe, we are highly likely to be playing champions league football next season. We need to show some resilience after bad results.
