Match Thread: Wolves v Villa

If we play that first half ten times, we're ahead in nine of them.

They've had two shots, one a volley from outside the box that was a mile over.

This is a terrific away performance from Wolves - sit deep, defend in numbers, foul when you have to and hope you pick up something on the break.

European football aside, it'll be tragic to lose this against the dog heads. Won't hear the last of it. Thought we had pulled away from teams like Wolves. 😬

Feels like the only game they are up for each season, I’m starting to believe that we are their cup final.

We need to add some energy somewhere, traore hasn't worked at all so far, a few nice interchanges in the middle of the park in the first 20, that's it, since then has fallen over, slipped over, played rather static and hasn't delivered anything. Not expecting magic goals per game but maybe run ? Maybe take the defender on ? Maybe play a decent dangerous ball into a player ?

Again, watkins refusing to run for anything ?

Emi b has played decent and he is the only one out of watkins traore Ramsey and emi b. The rest have been pretty lazy and ineffective.

Our only pace is down the left, yet when mereno is eventually given a pass, it's so slow to him or its almost behind him so he is facing the wrong way, taking him out of attacks.

Luiz and mccginn needs to be swapped, traore isn't going to press with any kind of energy, we have donk and possibly kamara for 2nd half to slot in with luiz mcginn on the right.

And for the love of God, tell watkins to move around and start a press from the front instead of standing still 30 foot from the players.

Ramsey for the last few seasons has drifted to nothingness at the end of each season, its looking like yet another invisible game from him.

Lose / draw and no Europe the way things are going, its that simple.

Traore has made some nice progressive passes but has generally been very sloppy.

Give him 10-15 to sort it out/make something happen. If not, bring Kamara/Bailey on.

Bailey is the better individual player but he wont link as well with Emi, id leave it for a bit as we have been well on top.

Id image their manager will react to our dominance however and close us down more.

Is there a table that shows VAR decisions for and against? Specifically penalty decisions?

The holy trinity dude on YouTube keeps track of it

One of the problems with VAR is that it is used to desperately show that the ref hasn’t made a mistake, as opposed to just getting to a decision quickly.

There was a moment early on when JJ was attacking and had Buendia outside him and you could see him waiting for Emi to go on the overlap to either pass to our take the defender out making space and Emi just stayed there. I was screaming at them. It was such a wasted opportunity. It was from that they went up and got the corner they scored from.

He hasn't had any service, but thy all need to move ON to the ball, and stand waiting for the pass.

I think he’s going out wide too often, thought Emery had coached that out of him because that’s why he was poor early in the season.  Stay between the box area where he’s done well.
