6 points off the “Mighty” Newcastle

They’ve had a dream season and yet the gap between us is just them beating us in that one game the week before Emery came in rather than the other way around.

They also have 2 games less played.

If West Ham win Conference, they go into the Europa League. That Europa League place comes out of Englands allocation, so only 5th gets Europa, not 6th as well.

Not sure if similar rules for Man Utd if they win Europa.

Sounds about right for to potentially land in a Europe place that due to some incredibly unlikely series of events isn't at all. Like when we finished 6th under O Leary and no Europe.

It didn't stop us winning at Everton and it won't stop us winning at Leicester either!!

Yep. Fourth under Little as well and wasn’t good enough for CL that year if I remember right.

Could be one of the all time great ending to a PL Season.

  • Arsenal/City Title could go to the wire.
  • The relegation battle is so incredibly tight between 8 teams.
  • Chase for Europe is genuinely up in the air too from 4th-11th.

Hopefully the next 10 games deliver as it's set up really nicely at the moment.

Back to 9 points and a game in hand.

Football is played in small details. Their late win against Forest could get them CL next year. They won comfortably. 7-0 for Man Utd against Liverpool could cost them their CL status. Us winning at Chelsea could give us a good chance to go to Europe.
A lot of games left, I think Newcastle are better than Utd and Spurs. They’re hard to beat. That penalty against Forest got their form back. Can West Ham stop them? Not sure.
A huge game coming against Leicester. Last time it didn’t go well at VP.

**** man united. Useless. We'll just have to batter Newcastle ourselves in a couple of weeks. I don't think any possible fixture win in the league would be more satisfying than against the saudis. Will probably be too anxious to actually follow it though.

In the mean time, you'd have to think 4 points minimum from leicester and forest before then.

We just have to keep winning. The only two teams in the league who consistently win are Arsenal and Man City. Newcastle may well be the best of the rest and have momentum.

United are on a horrible run of form and look lost without Casemiro. Spurs are managerless and Chelsea are likely to be soon too. Liverpool are hit and miss. An injury to Kane would be catastrophic for Spurs.

We’ll need a helluva lot of luck to finish in the top 6/7, but all we can do is keep winning games and closing the gap. We have an outside chance and the fixtures are reasonably kind.

7 points from the next 3 and you just never know!

It’s all about next season. However we could get some bonuses this season too. The barcodes are out of reach now after that win - both in terms of points and the psychological boost they’ll get.

The players now know that Don Unai is here to win things and get CL. Someone mentioned in the match or post match thread that he has instilled a belief and some big bollocks in the camp.

Heart says 6th head says 8th. Either way a magnificent season after ‘ol look me in the eye nearly destroyed the whole campaign.

It's very hard to imagine Chelsea, Liverpool and Spurs being as much as a shambles next season as they are right now.

To get into Europe is a completely unfair expectation considering the state of us when Emery started, but it's going to be a much tougher job next season
