Leander Dendoncker

Given that Kamara and McGinn are undroppable (in SG's book anyway), does this create a 3-way competition among JJ, Dougie (if he stays), and Dendoncker for the third spot? Or is SG going to try either Kamara or Dendoncker as a CB? I'm to be curious to see what SG does with him.

Solid if unspectacular signing.

Many here scoffed at Chambers now there are calls for him to start, will be interesting to see how he does.

I haven’t seen the obligatory picture of him with Gerrard.  Have is just missed it?

Has he even spoken to Gerrard.

Nah, not even a quote from Gerrard on the OS. Usually every player we sign has a quote from the manager.

That’s more because Carlos was injured and Konsa has been shocking.

Someone else mentioned that SG wasn't really mentioned in the interview either.

Usually as you know the gaffer is bigged up and they asked generic questions like:

" Leander,  so how much of a factor was it to sign for a legendary player like Steven Gerrard and watch him Meander ? "

He is on his way to look him in the eye to tell him he is ready to sit in the bench and watch a master at work like McGinn

Have to say I find this signing a little more strange now it looks like Luiz is staying, as we now have Kamara, Luiz, Nakamba, and Chambers who can all play as a DM, we didn't really need another one, what we needed is a number eight, that is a specialist 'eight' proven in that position, to challenge McGInn and Ramsey.

If we had a okayish start to the season I think the reaction would have generally been not bad squad addition. But because we are in a middle of a VT meltdown it seen as one of the worst signings evs and a damming indictment of the ambition of the club/will somebody think of the children.

He  can head and tackle. We haven't had that in a midfielder since the glory days of Whelan and Jedinak. I think it is a solid signing.

I don't know if I've missed a longer video, but I think it was very telling that there was no mention of Gerrard by the interviewer.

Especially as Dendoncker is a midfielder, you always get the cliche "And how excited are you to play for Steven Gerrard, who played in a similar position to you?".

Also Dendoncker mentioned 'the manager' very briefly in the interview but that was excluded in the little write up.

Basically I just want Gerrard out.

Last player we bought from Wolves?

Kourtney Hause.

How many games will he get before the cries of "Drop the Dendoncker" start?
