Really like him as a physically imposing CB but his carelessness will always be a worry so if we can get decent money from Milan or Saudi Arabia then I'd take it as we can get younger/cheaper options (e.g. Giorgio Scalvini, Ousmane Diomande, Goncalo Inacio, Jorel Hato etc.)

Not at all surprising.
He's been very 'meh' this season. For such a strong bloke, he very rarely uses his physicality. Feels like he should be so much better than he is given his physical qualities.

His fee and wages are likely to be a stumbling block.

A shame he was robbed completely of what could have been his 'settling in' season. Instead he's had to come back from a long term injury and adjust to the PL all in one go.

Shame for him and us as by all accounts he’s an absolute warrior but just not good enough for emery. You can see how well loved he was at sevilla and how much he loved / engaged with fans. Would have been great as back up CB. But thats about it.

To be fair that would have been his role this season all year without all the injuries.

Honestly think we’re too quick to write him off.
Think about the mitigating circumstances here:

Pairing with Lenglet, Olsen in goal, No Kamara, Konsa at RB, Luiz out of form, long term injury - He has shown more than enough to be 2nd/3rd choice for us. We’ve watched him perform beautifully in a healthy squad - Every players quality has taken a hit due to our injury circumstances, doesn’t mean we should **** them all off does it? 🥲

I think he's had a good season, some sensational performances and overall he seems to be the scapegoat for our defensive failings. When in reality Kamara injury is the trigger for our average goals conceded per game to jump from 1.1 to 2. Almost doubled without Kamara.

Think the key for him atm is that he can't be the lead CB in a back four. I think he has it in him to grow into that role, but he looks lost when not playing with someone who is giving him instruction. Pau or Ty offer him that leadership, but he looked at his worse with Lenglet. Add Olsen into that mix and the man was at sea.
