Can't remember the last good cross he put in and that's what he's supposed to be good at.

Well he put in one absolutely beautiful cross against Everton in the second half.  It was the perfect height for the striker to nod in from about 8 / 9 yards out in the dead centre of the goal - unfortunately for some bizarre reason, Ollie decided to run behind the (taller) centre back and "attack" the back post.  If he had made the run in front of the defender it would have been harder to miss than score.  As it happens the stats will show a failed cross that went to the opposition.  Which is the problem with stats like that.  The cross was perfect, the run from the centre forward was awful - the "black mark" goes against the crosser.

It doesnt include the penalty he should have conceded, after the Bournemouth fiasco he really should be looking over his shoulder for a starting place

Coutinho also made the team

Also doesn't include the absolutely perfect cross that he put in during the second half that would have given Ollie an absolute sitter from the centre of the goal about 8 yards out.  Unfortunately Ollie decided to run behind the taller centre back to "attack" the back post rather than doing what most strikers would do and attack the space in front of the centre back.  Had he done that it would have been harder to miss than to score.  But according to the stats that cross will go down as a "failed" cross that went to the opposition rather than the assist it should have been.  Digne gets the black mark but it was the centre forward who failed.

Mentioned it last season Watkins doesn’t make those runs. Shearer highlighted it during motd. He’s more often than not behind the defenders.

Yep doesn't have the strikers instinct to do this unfortunately. That said if quality balls are being pinged in time after time he might gamble with the run ins.

He made another really strange run when Ings got the ball on the right side of the goal.  Somehow Ings managed to get the ball past the defender and into the near post area where you might expect Ollie to be loitering.  Instead Ollie had started to move into a position where the defender was exactly between him and where Ings was.  I could have understood if he'd decided to try and move away completely so that he gave Ings the option of just passing the ball backwards - but he just kind of stopped in a complete no-mans-land position.  It was another of those moments that just left me scratching my head wondering what he was thinking.  It is weird because some of his movement out wide is pretty decent - see the runs for both of the goals against Everton.  But in the box he seems to lose that awareness completely.  Maybe it is a confidence thing and a few goals / assists will mean he starts taking up better positions in the box.

I am utterly convinced this guy is living off the reputation he garnered a few years ago and people singing his praises don't realize he's regressed massively since. Its why we got him from Everton for such a relatively low price. Its why Everton fans themselves were pretty mixed about him leaving.

Putting him on the salary he was on was for that length at his age whilst getting rid of Targett was stupid.

Hasn't started the season well at all has he?  Cannot possibly get any worse.  French international class player?  Blimey!  I'm looking forward to seeing if Ludwig is actually worse.  Surely not.

Can’t believe we ended up with this guy after Look me in the eye Top Lad Stevie G bollocked former PotS in Targett into leaving. Everton absolutely pulled our pants down with this one. I hope with a new manager he will buck his ideas up, as it stands he is looking like one of the worst ‘upgrade’ signings we’ve made.
