He's like Targett except cost twice as much earns 4 times as much and isn't even marginally better

We keep spending big to upgrade players with players that aren't upgrades.

Targett couldn't cross for shit, I mean really poor, just always put in a shift. Newcastle have dropped him.

Agree with the first part - I don’t know about the wages however though.

This might be bullshit, but https://www.spotrac.com/Premier League/aston-villa-fc/payroll/

The most Everton signing we have ever made, quite ironic we actually signed him from Everton. £27m and £175k a week is horrible. We some how paid a small fortune for a downgraded version of Targett. Been a horrible signing.

Newcastle would drop Digne too if they had him.

Digne has a bit more class than him on the ball but overall when you add all their attributes together they're negligible.

A ridiculous signing and said at the time. I didn't like where the club was going signing last pay day players.

He was horrific today. Half press him and he is absolute rattled.

ironically it was under Emery's tenure that Digne was sole by PSG to Barcelona (i think).

According to wiki he was sold to Barca on 13th July 2016, Emery joined PSG on 28th June 2016, don’t think he had much of a say in it.

He's all round just very very disappointing.

Sounds like he's going to be very difficult to move on so we're probably stuck with him which is going to make an upgrade very difficult as we'll need to spend another big fee and offer decent wages as well to get in a other player of the quality we want.

Hopefully his wages figure is just bullshit.

A bit of a one trick pony. Always crosses early which more often than not is too short or too long or not enough pace. Would be better taking it closer and trying to pick someone out rather than hit and hope. Great strike today though shame it was blocked.

We need fullbacks with a bit of pace and the ability to take a man on. Digne is very tidy on the ball and technically very astute but so often he gets into a good position and because he knows he doesn’t have the pace to beat a man, he just stops and crosses the ball. It’s very easy to defend against.

He’s not a bad player, he’s just not worth £160k a week in wages. That’s a scandalous amount for us to be paying him.

He’s fine for the time being (I suppose), but I have a sneaky suspicion Emery wants much more from the fullbacks and he may see both positions as a priority to improve upon.
