I mean Norwich fans are being a little tunnel visioned.

Arsenal probably low balled them and offered to pay £25m over 3 years. We've probably rocked up with a briefcase of £33m.

So would they still rather take the Arsenal offer?

I also think getting this done ASAP before he gets his first Arg cap is good business as we can say it's another player that's got a international call up being a Villa player.

I think that was the key.  We could literally wire them £35m cash this week.  Arsenal would still be paying it in 2025.

Maybe he has also been told of the rest of our transfer plans this window....

According to whoscored he took 18 shots from direct free kicks last season and scored 0 so definitely not his forte

I watched some “the breakdown” video about Buendia with Chris Reeve from Talk Norwich City and he said as much, that he has taken freekicks but it’s not really his strength area. (It was especially enjoyable because the Arsenal fan host was getting visibly excited).

This feels like a component of the team that we’re really lacking in. With Jack and hopefully now Emi no.2 winning freekicks, we could almost do with a Pederson/ Hitzlsperger type to smash them into the goal.

So that should be the task for any budding scouts out there. A DM (which a lot of people seem to want) who is a freekick specialist... easy.

Having watched more of him, apart from his attacking output he seems a bit dirty.

Will get a red at some point and not afraid to mix it with the opposition, assume these trades also means he’ll call out team mates for bad passes and performances.

Hopefully a winner in our midst.

Obviously some weird sodium-saturated delusional fans on the Norwich forum but I imagine for the most part they appreciate the difference between the clubs. It’s an unfortunate symptom of the game that we’ve been subjected to by Liverpool and Man City and Man Utd for a while so I can sympathise with being annoyed. Hope now they can focus on surviving and dropping Newcastle or Leeds into a relegation battle for us instead.

The guy that scored 8 league goals in 99 games for us? Did he take free kicks for another team because I don't recall for us

I remember looking up his stats a couple of years ago and being quite shocked how few goals he scored.

They were that good my brain gave him credit for 3 goals 😂

And no I don't think he was on set pieces, pretty sure he sat outside the box for corners as I'm sure that's how he scored one of those gems.

I remember liking him in an average battling team and the cries of SHOOOOOT!!! Then he left I was like what was all the fuss about

I really don't get the saltiness of Norwich fans. They expected Emi B to go to a " proper" club?

They would rather he go to a club that signed up for plans to ruin football, rather than a club whose intention is to break up the hold the self entitled 6 hold on the Premier League?

They are silly.

They're just pissed because they already know they're getting relegated 😁

To be fair, they knew that the moment they realised they were going up..

Quick note on the ‘why doesn’t he want to live in London’ narrative too, Arsenal’s training ground is basically in St Albans, London based players don’t live in Central London at hang out at Harrods and the Ritz every day. I don’t think it’s a big a deal as most people make out, the UK is comparatively tiny.

This wouldn’t be happening so quickly if he didn’t want to come to us. The transfer would rumble on all summer while his agent tried to get Arsenal to match our bid if that’s where he wanted to go.

He has chosen us over Arsenal.

Christian Bale Oooo GIF

I expect a Argentinian tea towel celebration on the scale never seen if he does sign

I am not sure, I fully understand the term, " Deep lying playmaker".....I think I understand what it being inferred, but it doesn't make sense to me, by concept.

Some player or some players have to win the ball back and turn it over, before any play making can be considered....If they can't win it back, they have to rely on the defenders to do it (or a misplaced pass they intercept) and give them the ball, in such circumstances, its likely that such a player is picking it up, too deep and subsequently is a sitting target for the press, from Opponents and likely to lose it again.

There has to be a kind of hybrid between a Ball winner and a playmaker.....Cropley, could do both, so could Sid cowans....not saying they were CDM's, but they won the ball around the centre circle, this defended the defenders and started the attack, and it meant, they didn't have far to run to get a shot on goal for the striker.

In that Double Pivot, we have players, who have attacking in their DNA, Not necessarily defending....you see just that when Nakamba comes in......if you could merge them with Nakamba, its the sort of player we need.

sadly, they all have something the other hasn't got, yet......Luiz is young enough to train, but I haven't seen any similarities with the likes of Kante, who is equally of light build, but makes up for it with his tenacity, timing, decision making, positioning and vision( reading of the game)

I think the term "deep lying playmaker" is a euphemism for not winning the ball enough, but thats just my interpretation......I think Kante and the likes are CDM's with ability after winning the ball to create or play make or scheme, call it what you will.

In a game of football... things have to be done, jobs have to be tasked......what name we tag the player to do it is fairly universal.....if we say winger, striker, centreback, we seem fairly certain we know what to expect......a full back, could be a wing back ,which means he is more of an attacking version.....than a defensive version.

CDM's seem to attract a variety of expectations, in all sizes......but what they must do is defend the back four, turn the ball over and start the attack.....They usually, pull all the strings and galvanize the team, they are the manager on the pitch....now to do all that, you have to have an array of attributes in your tool box.

I think we need one, to progress to the places, we want to be.....I love play makers like the next man and am over the moon, with Emi, to compliment Jack......but we can't have a team full and expect to hurt anybody, because somebody has to give them the ball and back four defenders can't always do that.

Excellent post mate - could not agree more 👍For fear of repeating myself, arguably the most important signing we will make.

It began since Paul Lambert.

They didn't much like us in the 70s either. Losing a cup final to us and finishing below us, even when they were having their best seasons in 74/5 & 92/3, must have left a chip on their shoulders, which Lambert's departure only added to and now this.... :D
