I was on Twitter last night with some Arsenal fans and I was getting swipes from Baggie and Leeds fans.  I think other fans are a little envious of us or at least dont understand why Villa are getting good players.  As some have said, they assume it means Grealish is leaving and Buendia is his replacement.  The arrogance Arsenal fans think that they could get Grealish, especially cheaply and that he'd jump at the chance to move to them....blows my mind.

This arrogance stems from the media.  Our national broadcaster being one of the biggest culprits when it comes to kissing the asses of the apparent big six. It was that arrogance that lead to the ESL. Thankfully that has been squashed for now at least. Although it seems to have soon been forgotten.

Perhaps Emi Buendia came to us because he hadn’t forgotten and wanted nothing to do with such an unstable, half skint, scummy outfit?

Buendia & Martinez was at Gestafe at same time for a season.

Martinez joined Gestafe on 2nd August 2017 on season long loan from Arsenal.

Buendia joined Norwich on July 1st 2018

I mentioned this a few days ago.

I believe Emi B was out on loan during his last season at Getafe.

There's a really good article on The Athletic about Emi B describing his time in Spanish football.  Well worth a read.

The other thing about other fans is this impression that any of our success is ancient history.

Currently top 6 is seen as some holy grail like top 4 used to be.

It's only 11 years ago that we had our third in a row top 6 finish.  Is 11 years now ancient history?

We have had a few dodgy years to be fair, bless the poor lambs, and they have still got their heads in to that.

We still have it all to do, of course.......but its looking good, so far.

It took them all a few years, to catch up with Wolves renaissance, but their dodgy season may have curtailed that.

Our gradual steady improvement, is all we want.

You and Rich are correct re the loan mate Buendia was at CyD Leonesa on loan that season :)

Norwich managed to keep Buendia and most of their other betters players after relegation, to them that must have been an indication of their owners ambition to do well, so it must be sickening that now they've been promoted, they're now losing their best player and they also seem to think that Aarons will be leaving as well, you expect this kind of thing after relegation, but not promotion...

Imagine how we'd feel if we'd have been relegated the season before last but somehow managed to keep Grealish with him being our best player as we came straight back up as champions, we'd pretty upset if we then went and sold him after promotion, especially if it was to a team that we deemed rightly or wongly only a level or two above us.

It's the way they operate, but can kind of see where their fans are coming from.

I really can’t understand where they’re coming from at all.

THEY put the price tag on their player.  WE met the asking price.

We didn’t rob them.  Arsenal wouldn’t pay them the £40m.  They would’ve dragged it out and increased their bid slowly slowly by £1m a week, and then bought him on the last day for £25m after all their other plans had failed.

And then paid Norwich at 15p a week or something dumb.

Norwich fans should be grateful we paid them what they wanted, and use that money to plan for their next season in the championship.

I think Villa are such an easy sell to somebody like Buendia.  You have Martinez his mate, a superstar in Jack, you then have a young, ambitious squad.  You can see how Villa have treated their buys and how they take young players and improve them from Watkins, Cash, Konsa and we have a machine now that we do it over and over again.  We make players in Buendia's position better, offer regular football and a group  of players that are all his same age, there seems no politics in the squad and they are all signing long term contracts recently.  Added to that we are a historic club, yes we have been in the wilderness but the new owners are impressive if you look into them and how much they have done for Villa already.  The improvement in everything in the club including facilities and finally we have blew our competition away to get him...it would be hard for Buendia not to be impressed.

I think now (seemingly will sign in the coming days) that we have Buendia, that will impress other targets how serious we are....having Jack, the others, another great season and already signed Buendia, our other targets must be sitting up looking at Villa and thinking wow I want to be a part of that...........(hopefully)

Other clubs fans seem to be totally clueless though and it's that more than anything that makes me smile. It makes me feel like our club is the Ninja of the football world and we have been making moves in the shadows. they seem to be just oblivious to our Owners and what they are capable of and maybe that has something to do with how silent they are and the fact they are hardly seen around in the media or at Villa.

For some reason I believe it will all start to sink in for other fanbase soon. I remember last season once we bought Sanson, one fan from Arsenal on twitter said "how the hell are Villa spending so much when the bigger teams are struggling" He were wrong in a sense because some of the so called bigger teams like City, Chelsea had spend a fair bit but Arsenal I think spent and did so knowing that if it doesn't work it maybe the last cash splash of that much you see from them for a while. However when you have fans saying how are Villa spending that much money, I think it's obvious they know nothing about our Owners. Really our Owners have come from out of no where some seasons ago and they have taken football by storm in how well they operate together. I actually feel as though NSWE have pretty much show the so called bigger clubs Owners how business in the football world is done.

Yes I believe you are right, I don't think there have been many Villa fans blowing there own trumpet about our Owners, the information on them has been next to none really. Fans outside of Villa of other clubs are wondering what the hell is happening and they are seeing s club they dislike come back like a sleeping giant and it's all now hitting them smack bang very roughly in the face.

Love that 👌

I also can’t believe the Norwich fans rate Arsenal so much higher than Villa, I can’t be the only one who can see Arsenal are on a downward decline and becoming a bit of a “Meh” club?

£33m for a norwich (straight back down) player!

Beggars belief 😂

Most through balls per game in top 2 tiers UK football last season. 6th most tackles in Championship etc etc. Absolute steal for sure.
