I see it as tough to move on both Hourihane, Guilbert and then get that additional midfielder in with only a few days left. I think if the right bid came in for Luiz this summer we would have let him go.

Perhaps the game the other night showcased Hourihane and Guilbert and someone might now be willing to take a punt on them (not that they played amazingly). Would be nice to move them on and get a midfielder in though.

Can't see Luiz going anywhere. Maybe next summer if we can't agree a new deal.

We didn't really. We spent quite heavily but a lot of the spend was a disaster and didn't contribute to our Championship side

Yeah - it was real low for me when we appointed RDM. Doomed from the start.

I thought Hourihane showed what he is all about with those threaded passes. I imagine he will have plenty of suitors in the championship and will get that move.

I find it all a bit strange with Luiz. After the clamour to make sure city didn’t buy him back, there doesn’t seem to be much bother if we do sell him now. I must admit I don’t quite get it with him and wouldn’t be upset if we replaced him either.

Our best signings in the Championship where probably ones which only cost a few mil like Conor and McGinn or loans like Tammy and Mingsy. Even Whelan was a decent buy.

The big signings were utter disasters like McCormack and Hogan.

I think Houirhane will be relatively easy to move to the Championship, it will be late in the window and it will be down to what % of his wages we will pay. I can't see why we would move Guilbert on. We need backup for Cash with Elmo having left

selling one of our two specialist right backs to buy yet another number 8 - of which we have many- seems a little risky to me. its like the opposite of bruce who collected right backs like they were going out of fashion.

as for Luiz - he's just a bit of a non-entity to me nowadays sadly. At one point he played with such flair and confidence but has kinda just gone through the motions the last 6 months. Wouldn't be too upset if he was sold which I cant believe i'm saying seeing as I practically had a date set in my calendar for when his buyback clause expired

Exactly, Jedi was a good buy for very little too. We also had out recurring transfer window screw up on a bad goal keeper

Completely agree, can't see it happening

I think Tuanzebe has been brought in as the “utility backup”

A lot felt if he went for whatever the buyback was 30m? in the summer it'd be good business for us. We could get a better player for that money. Seems if right offer came for Luiz earlier this summer we would have taken it and reinvested.

Luiz will be here for the season now and it's still up in the air if he's given a new contract or we find a buyer next summer. I get the feeling he'd like a move south to Spain/Italy, don't know why but get the impression he's not fully settled in Birmingham.

He looked unhappy in the game on Tuesday. He clearly feels he's not being given the chance as manager doesn't fancy him. I say Deano would go with Young, Konsa or Tuanzebe in right back if Cash got injured, not Guilbert. If that's what Dean knows he would do then Guilbert is only useful if an injury crisis hit the back 4. Which means he can leave.

IT's not what we think should/shouldn't be done. Smiths view is all that matters.

Who was that, then? A credible answer would be good.

To improve midfield Prowse, Sissoko and Bisssouma. Sarr was another but Spurs have signed him. Any of those four would improve Villa’s midfield if Villa were prepared to pay the money.

But shouldn't we be planning for an injury / suspension crisis. We only need to have 2 players out from our back 4 and we are then looking very weak

This guy is Tier 5 and falls for dumb links so wouldn't give much credence. Anyone with a Twitter account could speculate that we're trying to move Hourihane and Guilbert on

It originally came from Gregg Evans' article in The Athletic. Not sure what tier the pantomime villain is?
