See we're being linked with McNeill again. I don’t particularly rate him. He's decent, but that's about it! Would rather give the game time to JPB.

If we signed him I'd assume that's Buendia at 10 then as Bailey would also start.

Who’s feeling a better about not bringing players in after the display of the young lads last night?

They were quality, they really were, for the future. I would like to see them up against Burnley, Southampton, dare I say Man United etc.

We need signings, they are our future.

I'd still like a specialist DMC to replace Nakamba as I think all the kids play further up the pitch

Long term a CB and a LB too but other than that I think we're ok, more will know about the keepers than me

Yes me to, but Im not as worried about it as I was, it would be the ideal scenario and Im sure the backroom staff and recruitment team see this but if targets are unavailable then we get by until January or next summer

In terms of another winger which i thought we were short of then i think Bidace has earned the right to the shirt in the squad. So impressed witb him last night . Joaquin Correa has nothing on you sunshine !!

Archer has earned the right to play ahead of Keinan Davis . And against poor opposition afmittedly he looked like a proper player.

In terms of midfield we are still short at defensive midfield . Looks like the Ramseys are going to be the types of players you dream of as a manager . Box 2 Box all night long with skill strength and speed. Chukwuemeka will come through over the next 2 years and looked in places superb .

Very proud of them all again .

Made no difference to me.  Our kids are great, in fact some will be special.  Has little to no effect short term though, they are long term and would prefer most to go out on loan. A great performance against an injured fourth level team hasn’t changed that at all.

As for this season I still think we are still short and we haven’t moved on as much as I would’ve liked. Feels like we have done half of our business.  The part we’ve done is quality but overall missing the other half of the business we need to bring in and losing Jack, makes the window not as successful as I would’ve liked or that we needed.

£100 mil is the 6th most expensive transfer fee ever! You do realise both sides had to agree to the value of the release clause?

Maybe we asked for higher, but Grealish could have said 'i wont sign then'. That would have left us in a situation where this summer he only had 2 years left on his existing deal and wanted out, and we definitely wouldn't have been getting £100 million then.

Good points well made!

I look a few years back and we were nearly out of business. Now we are disappointed we aren't spending another £50m/£100m on players to get into top 10/8/6 of the Premier League. Sometimes I have to think back to those bad days, and remember how far we have come and what a great job everyone has done.

Rome wasn't built in a day and i'm delighted with the progress the club has made. If we don't sign anyone else, so be it, we'll be fine. It's an ongoing project.

Plus we will still have some Grealish money in the bank for when the right players become available.

Seriously, I don’t see the point of or where another box to box CM signing would fit in right now… we have Sanson to return and integrate into the side too… we can’t just discard or ignore him.

If we sign a new midfielder, I just think it’s got to be someone who can play the DM role, whether or not that’s McKennie, and compete for Luiz’s spot. Move Nakamba on then…

Also, I’ve been wondering about LW… would it not benefit us to get a high quality player for that position?

Atm, we have Bailey, Traore and Buendia who all favour RW.

I suppose Bailey would be first choice LW right now and we will probably play Watkins on that side at times too, when setting up with him and Ings…

Just wondering…

I still want Kamada, but where would he fit in? We haven’t been linked anyway… but it’s nice to dream 😆

Would still welcome Alvarez… could be both our 3rd choice striker and cover and rotate in all the forward positions…

I don’t want to give up on signings until deadline day is over… a few more players would help and we have to consider covering for absences due to international games or tournaments such as AFCON.

Right players are or were available if Villa had been prepared to meet the asking price.
