VAR very much to blame for that. We went 1 down at WHU and at home to Brighton, got equalisers both times only to go behind again. Both games should have seen us have last min pens. Then theres the 0-4 down to Southampton. If that game went on for another 5 mins we would have equalised the way we battered them 2nd half. So theres definitely fight in this team. But yeah; its always better scoring first to avoid that proverbial mountain to climb. 7

Keyblade
Wonder who would give way between El Ghazi and Traore as I'm sure Deano will rotate for Chelsea which Barkley will be unavailable for. There are arguments to be made for and against both of their inclusions.

There are arguments to be made for and against both of their inclusions. Honestly think both will start and Barkley will get last 30 minutes. Think El Ghazi will then be taken out for Chelsea away. Could either bring in an extra CM like Nakamba to sit alongside Luiz and just have Traore and Jack playing off Watkins while still having three CMs behind that or bring in Davis and have Watkins wider. Is Trez close to coming back? He'll be an option aswell for these away games where tracking back is essential given the form someone like Reece James is in although I think he got injured the other day so may not make it. Trez for me works hard and is a good squad player but is one in the first 11 I'd be looking to upgrade. Already posted this but Trez makes 2.4 tackles per game 2nd behind Cash 2.5pg. 3rd is Grealish with 1.3 You can't underestimate the value of an attacking 3 player that does so much defensively 1
turvontour
Lawro, "Villas form has been up and down this season". We are literally on course to finish in the top 4 based on current points to games. This is what annoyed me about the Newcastle game being cancelled. Should be getting far more recognition from people in the game. They just see us as mid table.

I'm quietly confident we'll make everyone sit up and take notice by the end of it.

Too young for that one...not often I get to say that these days ...but I think mine would be the 3-0 vs Man Utd followed up by the 2-1 vs Arsenal on New Year's Day back in 89/90. Very happy holidays indeed. More recently would be the 2-2 vs Arsenal with the last minute cracker by Knight. So deserved in a game we played some fantastic stuff in but unjustly found ourselves 2-0 down. Great memories of celebrating that comeback on the Holte.
Robtaylor200
Only result it can be is a win for us. How great it feels to expect us to win, rather than say nothing, expect nothing but still have a little hope

Popular Post John
We welcome "the team of the eighties" to Villa Park this afternoon. We really do need to win a home game now, having gone four games without doing so at Villa Park. A win would maintain our position in the top half of the table, with a difficult looking run of games to come and it might also move us up a couple of places. One ex-Villa defender Cahill, will be missing for them this afternoon, but two ex-Villa forwards Ayew and Benteke, will be looking to score at Villa Park once again, but this time for Woy's boys rather than for us. They will miss Cahill, as their defence will be still in a state of shock having conceded seven in their last game, against a team that we scored seven against, in our last win at Villa Park. Zaha will be a threat to us, but Jack among others will be a serious threat to their brittle defence as well. It would be really nice to have 25 points from 13 games by 5 o'clock tonight! The Eagles were beaten 2-0 at Villa Park in July and that win started the late 4-game unbeaten run, that led to our Great Escape last season. Our visitors last won at Villa Park on Boxing Day 2013. Since then they have drawn once and lost on their last two visits. Overall, we have won 13 and have drawn 10, of the 34 league games that there have been between the two clubs. Our first target should be a clean sheet, our next would be to send Christian and Jordan, back down to South London pointless. The win at the Hawthorns made it a happy Christmas for us, a Boxing Day win would make it an even happier one. Just win it for us Villa!

BleedClaretAndBlue
got to say im feeling confident in our chances today, its natural I suppose given the football we’ve been showing this season. Ive been burnt before though this season but we keep bouncing back and continue to look confident on the pitch. a side coming back off a 7-0, plus losing their most experienced and influential defender gives us an even greater chance to get 3 elusive home points. They have a decent frontline, but we have a more than capable backline and Emi just doesnt look like conceding. 2-0 again. Watkins, El Ghazi. Milivojevic 2 yellows for constant fouling of Jack. We march on
