rodders0223
Probably be better than what we have looking at the lad's CV. Then again Trez and AEG ain't hard to improve on. Its clear Smith doesnt rate Benrahama enough to suggest dropping 25m+on him not going to happen..

Benrahma - Watkins - Rashica McGinn - Grealish - Luiz Job done. (Provided McGinn sits back a bit). From the friendly today, McGinn seems to be sitting more. Looks back to his 18/19 style which is promising.
MrSmirch
I think the plan is to have one player from every country on the African continent.

Laughable Chimp
Looking through this guy's stats quickly from last season, it seems like he's assets if he comes to us will be his crossing ability and key passes. It's not going to be for his pace or trickery that's for sure after having watched a bit of him . Looks about as fast as a fortnight and his step overs are telegraphed the night before they happen.
Jareth
If Traore, or someone equally as quick, is 5 yards ahead because Cash has whacked it forwards faster than usual, then maybe him or someone as quick will see some better stats. alreadyexists Posted September 13, 2020 VT Supporter Share Posted September 13, 2020 (edited) I hate to sound negative but he doesn’t sound very good from some fan comments and the stats... could be wrong of course but he seems like a forward who doesn’t score or assist. I suppose he could be one of those players where some detailed stats are what we need and the scouting team has spotted that he does something subtle which will fit into our side... He does not improve the squad by much. Lyon fans (it's also my second team after Villa) can't wait for him to leave. He can't even get a game for them anymore and despite their UCL run, it's a pretty mediocre Lyon side that was hovering mid-table in their league last season. He is single footed, inconsistant and has attitude issues. And the reported price of around 17M is outrageous. We should pay no more for him than what a club would offer us for AEG. That's his level. Only way this makes sense is if he is a direct replacement for AEG or Jota and the price is much less than what is being quoted. For me - this would really be a case of one step forward, one step back in our recruitment. Edited September 13, 2020 by nepal_villan
MJ_1874
I think people might be being a bit negative with this one. Obviously Benrahma has been priced out of a move from both wage/transfer fee. He is probably asking for 70k plus and Brentford want £30m all in. From what I can see from his stats, Traore looks like a tricky forward who can beat his man and score, is the same age as Benrahma and has played at a higher level. Over his 3 season at Lyon he has 30 league goals or assists in 5655 minutes or a goal involvement every 188 minutes of play. (For reference Benrahma is about 140 minutes in the championship). His non-penalty xG+xA per 90 has been consistently at 0.4 or over the last 3 seasons but was 0.48 in his first season. His actual non-penalty G+A was 0.67 in his first season dropping to 0.38 in his second and 0.29 last season. Suggesting a poor season last season but he only got 1,200 minutes. If he can find his form from a couple of years ago, he is worth double what we are paying. Shots per 90 are pretty good 3.35 per 90 in his first season to 2.51 last season with shots on target % only 31.4% last season but 42% the season before. (Benrahma was 33% in 2018-2019 and 38% last season) Passing accuracy is pretty good for a forward (much better than Benrahma) with 75% last season but was 80% both seasons before. Shot Creating Actions per 90 have been 3.70 last two seasons (AEG is 2.50 and Trez is 2). Dribbles per 90 were 4.68 last season with 2.52 successful about the same as both Rashica and Jack. So just looking at the stats he looks a bit of a gamble. A poor last season where he was in and out of a team that under performed but a lot of promise before that (much like King). If he can find his form from 2 years ago, he could be a big hit. For the under £20m reported plus reasonable wages, he is probably worth a punt. useless
This player wouldn't be an alternative to Benrahma, plays on the opposite wing and can also play through the middle. If we're signing Rashica then that would more likely be the reason we're not trying to sign Benrahma.

This is a player who they are looking to ship out and whose market value is around £6-8M tops. Barcelona are reportedly planning to bid EUR 25M for Memphis Depay, another Lyon player - who is at a completely different level and has massive marketing appeal! Granted Memphis only has 1 year remaining on his contract. Edited September 13, 2020 by nepal_villan

the_eristic
Sounds like this would be more an alternative to the purported King bid, a utility forward to potentially push out the likes of AEG/Trez/Jota in the squad, but surely on much lower wages and a few years younger than King. I am speaking as a Lyon fan who has a good grasp on what players at the club are worth. 24 year-old Dutch International Kenny Tete just moved from Lyon to Fulham for EUR 3M. No way Traore is worth 6X that! 1

Players are worth what people will pay and clubs will sell for, there is no intrinsic value.
