Matty Cash

I love Matty for his tenacity, hustle and fight but he could have released Bailey down the wing 10 times in the first half. He doesn't trust his passing at all. If he ever figures that part of his game out he would easily be champions League quality.

Thought he was good going forward but defensively not great. His positioning in the second half cost us a goal and on two other occasions he didn't keep the line. It's basic defending so very frustrating, especially when you are the last in line.

Gets an unnecessary amount of shit online.

Not really. A couple good games doesn’t make up for how average he’s been most of the season. We know he can play well, he just doesn’t do it often enough, hence why he gets stick.

Don't think he was fit. He Is now and it's showing

Was good in the first half but was at fault for their 2nd, and 2 other times they went through because he can't hold his line. He was better than moreno which really spares him blushes and his pass for the third was lovely. But so often he is the limiting factor for this team.

He’s gone from being scapegoated a few weeks ago to now being a very solid part of the team (again), and actually he’s starting to form a partnership with Bailey that previously didn’t look possible because Bailey apparently was “occupying the space Cash likes to move in to”.

I think Cash is having a very good season.

He’s going to be part of this squad over the next few years, I think Unai likes him and he’s able to offer more going forward than Konsa, which is useful in some games and situations.

He still has an absolute clanger in him. Can’t concentrate for 90

What's a clanger though. A mishit cross or poor pass on halfway line I wouldn't really class as clangers otherwise all the players on the pitch would be guilty of that.

Not stepping up for the second in time was frustrating but it happens especially as we probably haven't trained much with Chambers at the heart of the back 4 so the understanding wasn't there.

He gets skinned but so does Moreno given Neco Williams twisted him in knots when he got booked. Digne coming on when he did was a good sub as that settled us down at the back with his experience, can see him starting at Luton.

There's a role for him in the squad but in the grand scheme of things he's a Tier 3 right back.

Nothing to be ashamed of and he's an advantage in certain games, but he's not a 10/10 in attack OR defence so that's an opportunity to improve the team.

Yes, he played Gibbs-White on but Emi was slow off his line for the second goal.

There’s still a place in the squad for him but hopefully we can transition towards him being a good rotation, not a guaranteed starter week in week out.

Actually I wouldn’t put that goal 100% on Cash because Chambers stepped up way too late whereas Cash didn’t step up at all. Moreno and lenglet were already up. If Chambers stays in his position and the goal doesn’t occur.

However as Cash didn’t step up at all then he probably should have been round to cover.
