No of course not but then I don’t think it is a strong bet that we will be relegated if we stick with Smith.  I will go even further and suggest the likely candidates of manager we could get would do no better than Smith.  As I’ve put in prior posts, that unless a Poch or equal I’m sticking with Smith.

It's an extremely strong bet we'll go down if we stick with Smith. We're playing worse than anyone in the division right now and by some distance.

Ok guess we’ll find out because I don’t think the board will be sacking him in the near future.

Like I just said to Eastie, I guess we’ll find out because I don’t think Smith is going anywhere in the near future

I think everyone at the club, and most realistic fans, so it as a distinct possibility when we came up through the play offs having been a mid table championship side. Deano just promoted us earlier than anyone expected.

This is probably also why we shopped a lot of young players that will gel and develop over time. Cause it's about more than this season.

Mings, Grealish, McGinn will need replacing as a minimum. Sorry I don't want Smith or Pitarch here for that.

I think if we continue to play the way we are he'll be very lucky to survive. The owners didn't buy the club and put their faith in him to watch the dross we are seeing week in week out at the moment.

Depends what their tipping point is - a heavy defeat at burnley maybe ?

When Smith came in the target was still a play off finish, we only wrote it off after he managed 1 win in 12 over the Christmas period so wasn't a miracle we got promoted just that his 4 3 3 didn't work in that division either until grealish was back. I also think you're under estimating  the importance of staying in this division, we lose all our best players and have another rebuild on our hands which Smith is proving he's clearly not capable of.

If we was playing football with any form of identity and was just been unlucky then I wouldn't be wanting him gone but we've just played the bottom 3 sides and conceded 6 goals lost 2 and won 1 that was undeserved. His subs and tactics have cost us points plenty of times already this season and in a division like this you can't keep making those mistakes.

I think what might be saving him at the moment is Mings and McGinn being out, our owners might be of the mind that if we'd have had them fit we might have done better in the last three games and so wouldn't be in the relegation zone, they will probably also feel that he's been let down by the club with the striker situation, should have signed another forward in the summer, I couldn't believe it when no one came in on transfer deadline day, we were left with wingers that struggled to score goals in the championship, an unproven forward, another two in Davis and Kodjia who are both also not only prone but also unproven in top flight football.

Suso worked with Cesare Prandelli at Valencia, who of course is a Villa fan.

Prandelli was a very good manager...a decade ago. Did great work at Fiorentina and got Italy to euro 2012 final.

I saw lots of his games at Valencia. Followed Gary Neville and can't say they were much better. He left Valencia just above the bottom 3.

In Smith I trust ... ( for now ) we aren’t adrift even with how shit we’ve been and I have full faith we will come good sooner rather than later. As someone else rightly pointed out Southampton got spanked 9-0 by Leicester and look at them now after a few good results. Keep the faith and remember where we have come from in a year .

Can you give me any positives for Smith turning this round?

He turned us around in the championship

Up until October Villa fans thought the sun shone out of his butt

I just think he will, if I’m correct he’s always got it right eventually at his previous clubs

Nobody wants to get it right or work harder than Villa fans and he’s one of us.  He’s not just here picking up his cheque’s like other managers might be, he will be going through this pain like us and obviously he won’t tell us all on camera I’m sure he knows what going on as much as we are seeing it.

Yes but they have Ings, Norwich have Pukki, Watford have Deeney, if you have a goal scorer you always stand a chance, we don’t have one and that is the major worry.

Luckily January is fast approaching and what we do during the transfer window seals our seasons fate ... I’m relaxed still as they deserve Our collective patience IMO .
