Cracking squad That had the addition of a now England centre back and the Premier leagues current top scorer. Not to mention a certain Jack Grealish. Awful squad . That team was seriously under performing under Bruce and Smith got the minimum required out of them. 1

Mings signed January 31st, Smith took over October 15th thats a long time. We were playing Jedinak and Bree at centre back, Nyland in goal

I'd probably agree with that, having the current premier league top scorer playing for us last season was the very definition of cheat mode. We were inconsistant and obviously not great defensively but were still only 2-3 points off play offs when SB was sacked, championship is just that sort of league where hardly anyone can defend. Smith did well but doing an incredible job would've been getting top 2.
useless
Smith walked into a team that was fifteenth in the table and had won once in the last ten games, and had hardly any central defenders. Lampard walked into a team worth hundreds of millions of pounds, one of the best squads in the premier league, and unlike Smith he had a full pre-season with them. Was much harder to achieve what Smith did with us, than what Lampard is acheiving with Chelsea so far. Smith would have gotten us top two with a full season. 2
VillaChris
Leicester are very good aren't they, completely outplayed Arsenal. Arsenal away record over past 50 games in the league must be abysmal, frustrating we don't get them at VP until May although they'll be about 8th by then and have little to play for. VillaFaninLondon
Wish we could press like Leicester, Arsenal just can’t find a way out. Feels strange to say it but Leicester is a team we should be looking to emulate, have made some cracking signings and play very good football. Maybe in 2-3 years we can be at that level.
villalad21
Sacking Emery won't solve anything. They will still have an awful defense.

They've looked quality every time I've seen them. Incredibly balanced team. Clear idea of how they wanna attack and retain the ball, which is more than you can say for arsenal
KentVillan
Leicester are the model for us I think. Buy low, sell high, aim for strength in depth in every position. They show how you can sell players like Kante, Mahrez, Maguire, Drinkwater for silly money and reinvest that cash sensibly. We may have to do the same thing with some of our stars over the next few years when the silly clubs come calling with £150m for a single player - main thing is that we reinvest the money well. Add a very good manager in Rodgers and Leicester will be right in the mix for a Champions League spot.
KenjiOgiwara
The league table is interesting. I am a firm believer in that GD indicates final league positions, and we are doing alright. The teams below us got a shocking GD.

I mean a perfect barometer would just be comparing his time at Derby to Smith last season. Even beat him in the playoff final as if to emphasize this point.

zab6359
Sheff Utd 5th! Can't see them maintaining that position but they are doing it right. Could be a classic case of teams working them out second half of the season though. Still can't see them being in a relegation fight anytime.
