Pre-match thread

So it's another ding-dong Derby. We are left with just local pride to play for on Saturday at 3 o'clock. We really owe them one. They stole a point at The Hawthorns in December with a late equaliser that the match officials somehow failed to notice had twice been handled by their scorer. That game left Jack injured and proved to be the turning point in our season.

The Baggies are ten points above us and unlike us still have realistic promotion hopes. What a pity it would be if we were to dent their automatic promotion chances by getting a rare home win this weekend. Albion won on their last league visit to Villa Park in 2015. We last beat them at home twice within a week earlier that same year. Overall we have won 65 and have drawn 33 of the 145 league games between the two clubs. Let's make it 66 wins on Saturday!

This could be horrible.

I think we have to consider changing the shape to cover some of our problems - if we just keep doing what we've been doing, we'll take an embarrassing beating and that won't be good for anyone.

I'd go:

-----------------------------------Kalinic----------------------------------

-------------Elphick-----------Mings-------Hause----------------

Hutton------------------------Whelan-------------------Bjarnason

---------------Hourihane-------------------McGinn-----------------

----------------Abraham---------------------Davis-------------------

Bang it up to the front two and hope the midfield pair can support.

But quite frankly, I have a bad feeling about this one.

Even with Gayle out, I can't see anything other than a defeat here.   2-1 or 3-1 to the Tesco bags.

Really hope Smith tries something different, either with formation or personnel.  Forget play offs now and concentrate on building his squad for next season.

I’m a dreadful supporter. I’m considering not going to the game and putting £100 on a baggies win.

Through thick and thin and all that, but I’m giving up I think

Shame! Shame!

Just out of interest, what odds are you getting on that? (Asking for a friend).

Hmm, somehow we’re favourites. 9/5 baggies, 7/5 Villa.

Its not true though, I know I’ll end up going...and I haven’t got £100.

I think 3 at the back is a good idea, it would suit the players we have
