It was utopian having Jack and Dean. They were so good for each other and so good together. As soon as Jack broke up that marriage, Dean couldnt flourish. Neither have benefitted from the divorce. It might just be best that the club evolve and move on now and just keep hold of those great memories we had together. Europe was achievable if Jack bought into it too. He didnt, we need to reset from that fairtytale now and look forward to another new era.

Er Grealish has. Higher profile, starter for England, more money, will win trophies.

So far a disaster for us.

yeah thats the scary part...that in this modern era of football where our 2 multi billionaire owners are struggling to make us competitive Deano's time here should be judged as successful...

with the saudis joining the party this could become even more apparent

promotion, a cup final, a safe mid table finish and a handful of brilliant results, unfortunately that could be villa until all this nonsense stops

I read somewhere:

"Losing Jack took the heart from Aston Villa. Losing Dean Smith was taking its soul."

Sums it up to me. I hope he does well wherever he goes. Rangers would be a very good job for him, could see him doing a Brendan Rodgers'esque job there. Also the winner automatically gets into the CL now (no qualifiers) which is massive for Scottish football.

For all the talk about the importance of Stevie G bringing in his backroom staff from Rangers, it's quite ironic that Deano's downfall was losing O'Kelly and Terry and replacing them with MacPhee and Danks.

Impressed in the interview with Norwich apparently (according to sky).

Of course he did, he’s Dean Smith.

I’m struggling to get over this one, it’s worse than losing Grealish IMO.

exactly the same mate, its horrible

Norwich would be a good fit for him and if im being brutally honest about his level. He did what was asked of him with grace and will always be remembered for the gent he was but harsh realities are that football doesn’t stand still and if you are not constantly improving you are going backwards. No time for sentimentality  nowadays which is sad in many ways but felt the time was right for a change.

Norwich to me is a start to a slow slide in to obscurity, relegation followed by promotion followed by losing his job followed by being labelled a promotion specialist and getting mid table championship teams chasing him eventually landing at one who doesn't get promoted and then it's all over

Rangers he should have a shot of maybe even enhancing his reputation and getting a safer PL job 3 or 4 years down the line
