His issue was consistency and confidence. Too many games he didn't really offer anything when his confidence wasn't high. He served his purpose and should be fondly remembered but its time to move on to bigger and better players at Villa. One of my favourites was the third goal on Boxing Day against Palace. Seems really weird now seeing empty stadiums, what a strange time that was. He's been an important player for us, particularly in those early days, but even in the Prem where he's been less consistent he's scored important goals for us. His efforts to get us promoted aren't to be forgotten, and his shoulder should have it's own statue somewhere for that goal in the Playoff Final. He's had his disappointments as well, of course - all too often you could see he wasn't up for a game and then he was basically useless, and when his confidence was down he couldn't do anything right. But then you'd get those glimpses of a player who was like a cut price Ronaldo for a couple of minutes at a time, and from the penalty spot he's different level. Players really are " disposable " in a sense, so you can sometimes see things from their side now. Anwar deserves some respect and a good send off if/when he does leave for the massive part he has played in our rise. I can actually see him doing quite well somewhere else given a run of games.
