Fair dues, did really well today. Don't think it's the ideal role for him but he's doing it.

It couldn’t be more ideal if we want to get the best out of him.

I love how he's become a solid dependable player who comes in and does an admirable job when called upon, instead of the undroppable lynchpin of our midfield that he was earlier this season. It suits him to a tee.

To be fair Gerrard played him, it’s just that Gerrards tactics were terrible and rendered McGin as about as useful as a potato. We knew he could play, and Emery is allowing him to do that again.

He's a lot more considerate and deliberate with his passing under Emery.

It seemed like under Gerrard he was constantly trying to play the Hollywood pass, resulting in giving possession away more often than not. Maybe he felt under pressure to produce that bit of magic Gerrard constantly needed, in lieu of having any managerial ability.

He has played alot of football since he came back from his bad ankle injury. Played every game for Scotland i think and always nearly all the game.  The last 3  months have been the first time he hasnt been an automatic first choice and there hasnt been internationals.

Might have done him good to relax a little and learn about what Emery wants from him rather than game/ rest/ game / rest.

Back to how he was in the first 2 or 3 games under Gerrard. Playing a little within himself which makes him not play the hollywood balls and instead takes more care. Far better player like that

He was probably under instruction to switch play it’s probably the reason every manager loves him , he does what’s asked of him wether that’s right or wrong.

Comfortably MOTM today, would be great to have SJM back to his best. He’s a great bloke off the pitch, got time for everyone. Shame a few idiots turned on him when he needed us most.

Some of the abuse was just appalling, especially at a time when the team as a whole were struggling .
