The Conservative candidate for the constituency, Dr Adam Sykes, apologised for the leaflets, blaming national party officials for allowing their distribution. Tory party headquarters in London declined to comment.

Let's hope they filled out their campaign spending forms correctly. :)

But nobody, literally nobody, has proposed such a thing.

It seems implicit in the assertion made that "[long explanation..] So if taxation doesn't fund government spending (ie national, currency-issung governments), why tax?"

but whatever, it's off topic-ish

Is the correct answer to my original point ("why would anyone talk about putting this or that Tax up? or cutting spending on this or that thing - why not just create the money to do it instead? ...No one needs to pay any tax, then....it's all just virtual numbers, right....)" In order not to reach that limit, alternative sources of financing government plans are required, and these include taxation and controlling expenditure so as to not reach the limit.

It is totally counter-intuitive but it makes sense if you think about it the right way.

Try this:

Who let Diane Abbott out of the basement? If Labour really want to win they need to keep her under lock and key, not repping for them on the hottest topic in the country. Epically stupid and a terrible bluffer too, humiliated herself on Sky news just now.

So why would anyone talk about putting this or that Tax up? or cutting spending on this or that thing - why not just create the money to do it instead? Why on earth would John McDonnell, Phillip Hammond...every chancellor ever... tart about with this or that Tax rise or cut, this or that national insurance rate, why would they bother about "tax avoidance and evasion" about VAT and all the rest of it? Why would anyone care about a balanced budget and defecits and all the rest of it. No one needs to pay any tax, then....it's all just virtual numbers, right....

@peterms described it better than I can. Money is the squares on a graph paper. The size of the paper is the size of your natural resources. Physical things. When you own the graph paper you can make the squares whatever size you want.

She's a bigger laughing stock than May and that says something. She is going to be a disaster if Corbyn wins

May isn't particularly a laughing stock - just a vile, lying, coward.

She just can't answer a question. Can't even bring herself to directly defend the mayor of her capital city.

Doesn't matter. Diane Abbott talks a bit funny.

Corbyn needs young people to turn out to vote on Thursday. This policy, which is basically a bribe, needs to understood in that context, and I would hope, if by some miracle Labour win, that it would significantly de-prioritised.

In two days time on Thursday...

And it sounded like she's just promised 76 million new police officers.

5000 people turned up to see Jeremy speak in Gateshead this evening, with even more not able to get into the grounds of the venue. Hope this is a sign that the North East has not forgotten its roots. Interesting that he said that STPs would be suspended, if Labour win the election. That's pretty huge. That could save the NHS as we know it, and mean we don't lose any more hospitals or services.

In round numbers , 0.5 of a vote for me and therefore one of the more influential constituencies and one with a history of switching sides.

All the more weird then, that Labour here appear to have decided not to run a campaign. The quietest little unknown candidate you could imagine. A few tweets about women's pension rights (perfectly worthy), but pretty much nothing else.

I live on a long straight road, in previous elections here there have been dozens of Labour placards. I seriously don't think they've bothered getting any printed this time.

Yesterday was the first day since the election was called that one single labour local councillor that I follow on twitter broke ranks, broke the silence and urged people to vote. Other than that, weird silence. Less presence than in non election times.

Just seen that, very embarrassing all round. She really does come across as clueless. Corbyn's weak link.
