Ashley Westwood is the greatest player at the club and will be sorely missed if he goes. He's like Carrick in that he's the invisible engine of the team, he's always linking play and making sure our midfield is strong. He's so good that we actually signed Hourihane as a squad player just in-case Westwood go injured. He's worth far more than you're likely paying, but when a players head is turned what can we do. I think we'd miss Westwood's guile, strength and creativity. I know he doesn't score much but his tackling and key passes would benefit any PL team. So either this is old news (i.e. he was one of the 60-70 players that we considered) or it is out of date (i.e. we are closer to having agreed a possible deal). I don't think Xia will hold back on the transfer value - if Bruce and Round say that he is the striker we need to get promoted then I think Xia will find the money.
