Top 6 at the half way point of the season in my view is realistic chance of going up.

Like being 4th in the premier league at this stage, you’d probably say that side has a realistic chance of qualifying for the Champions League.

Sorry mate, I don't mean to be rude but that is a terrible comparison. 4th gets you in to the champions league. 6th does not get you promoted.

“Realistic chance” of promotion is what I said.

And then his replacement has no chance to assess the squad and have input into the January window.

Honestly I believe if we sack Bruce halfway through the season they will be looking to give the new manager enough time to make an impact for next season.

You said that being 6th in the Championship at this point is like being 4th in the PL at this point, which just isn't true.

I think it’s quite clear. Whilst we have a realistic chance of promotion Bruce will remain at the helm.

Wolves have a realistic chance of promotion. We don't. We are lucky to be in the top10 after a couple of weeks.

Hey @Grasshopper I was hoping to negotiate terms of our bet.

On reflection I'm wondering if instead of donating £10 to villatalk,

Can I instead donate it directly to AVFC please.

I would like to double our transfer budget for next seasons attempt to get out of this league.

Genie does have a point, though. The team finishing in 4th place in the PL won't get champions league, but  might qualify through play-offs. The team finishing in 6th place in the championship might get promoted through play-offs.

(But Aston Villa with Steve Bruce at the helm probably won't)

When was the last time we were a remotely decent footballing team? For God knows how long we've been a counter-attacking team at best and an ineffective, long-ball team at worst. Right now we're just hoofball merchants who can grind out results against lesser  teams not through team skill but rather the sheer quality of our players and moments of individual brilliance.

Since we're not ever going to be a realistic contender for relegation in this league, it'd be nice to see us try and build a proper footballing philosophy. It'd be great if we could actually play teams off the park for once. I'm not saying we should be like Barcelona or anything but a bit more composure and proper football would be nice. Unfortunately, Bruce isn't the man to offer that. If we were getting results for promotion then that's fine but we're not really getting that either.

Donations don't count towards spending for FFP.     So sorry, no doubling of transfer funds next year ;)

Sometimes teams have a poor run of games (still only lost 1 in 7 and 2 in 11)and then go back to winning ways. Not sometimes, always. Newcastle lost 9 last season.

But Newcastle didnt draw many games.

Drawing is much, much closer to losing than it is to winning.

We are the draw specialists.

You lose 9 and win 37. You have 111 points and you romp the league.

You draw every game, and you finish on 46 points, and you probably get relegated. But hey, youve lost none in 46!

...BFR/Brian Little?

It's been a long 20 years,
