Maybe have a other go for something major in January so the no 9 shirt being saved for that? You see, take a look at this positive attitude, haters. Mantis
Probably best he avoid the number 9 shirt anyway. Just look at who we've had in it over the years: Sinclair Bent (played his best football with 39) Ireland Harewood Any others?
Tommo_b
Actually excited by this signing the most, imagine what he could potentially do this season with this team around him. we've got two prolific strikers who played in teams that didn't do great last season, very exciting. Plus Gestede knows where the net is at this level, and Ayew was pretty good for us last year considering.

Popular Post Nigel Posted September 2, 2016 VT Supporter Popular Post Share Posted September 2, 2016 Quote Bristol City fan in peace. Thought I would just drop in to give you a few views on Kodjia having watched him a fair amount last season, and maybe correct a few misconceptions. Firstly, let's start by saying he is a very good player. Yes, we think we did you a bit price wise, but even expecting £7m - £8m means he is a very decent player. Given he made it clear he wanted to move, we are very happy with the price - that is very different from saying we did not rate him. What are his strengths? First and foremost to me and what you do not see on the highlights, is he is very fit and hard working. He is constantly chasing down defenders on the ball, often leading to rushed clearances and turn over of possession. Secondly, he really is not the 'big one up front' type of forward. He really does have pace, and can beat players. He is one of those forwards that when they get the ball, just seem to suddenly be able to find half a yard to get a shot away, or go past a player to bear down on goal. A very good percentage of his chances are self made. He was very often rated our best player, by fans of teams we had played. Development areas Has a few. We would say a top end Championship striker, not a premier league one, for these reasons. He is very one footed. Watch the highlights again and see what foot he scores with. His other peg is quite a shocker at this level. Odd in that he dribbles well, but can only seem to shoot with one peg. Ought to add he is also a very good header of the ball. I have to add here his finishing is average. Not bad, not good. If it was better of course he would have scored 30, and in fairness many if those chances are self made. Tactically he can be naive. He gets fewer assists than he should. That comment about he makes a yard of space to get a shot away, or beats people to make a chance? He pretty much has one thought in his head when he gets in these positions - how can he score? It is frustrating when he creates a great chance, but gets saved from an acute angle, with a player free for a tap in square of him. Now - this could be coached out of him, or maybe, it crossed our mind, he always wanted to go to bigger and better things, and knew ultimately he would be judged on what he scored. Who knows. Equally he needs to 'look up' more than he does. Not great at link up play. Got a reputation as 'offside Codger', but maybe our players were just not good enough to read his run early enough. In summary, yep, maybe you over paid a bit. Nonetheless, whilst with us an excellent forward, one of the very best in this league last year. No question for me. Against higher standards, has some weaknesses, but if he did not would be worth 3 times as much. Wish him well for the rest of the season, as I do you. PS, could not help but notice you bought one of our ex players from Middlesborough for £6m? yesterday. Would save the middle man if you could just add another £1m to your cheque for our sell on fee on that one! alreadyexists Posted September 2, 2016 VT Supporter Share Posted September 2, 2016 As much as it was ultimately a failure Darren Bent was a decent number 9 for that one season, in my opinion he kept us up that year. But everything after that was a balls up.
