Benteke scored against United from a corner too.

Wasn't that a free kick from near the half way line?
He scored from a corner in the away game vs them.
We scored from a corner v Everton too. But I think the reason we don't score many from set pieces is we haven't had a set piece specialist since Young. The way he whipped the ball in was amazing. It was no coincidence we scored the most set pieces in the league one season.

Could Gill be the answer?

Staying on topic. Welcome to Villa.

Just to clarify, is this done deal? Medical happened or happening? Sorry got a bit distracted by goals, targets and French vs English league banter. I'm Jonesing for another offical site welcome post!

I expect him to be proud to wear the colours and give his all. Anything else is a bonus!

This all day. Was going to post the same.
Don't agree with that at all. We may as well have kept Weimman and Albrighton if that's all we expect from our players.
Well saying you expect x number of goals is unreasonable too. So if they don't get them you gonna critisize them and call them flops. Benteke wouldn't have scored those goals without assists he never made the goals himself each and every goal was an assist unless he took the free kicks goal kicks and passed the ball to himself. I don't expect a player to score a certain number of goals at all I expect them to play as a team. Don't give a flying fig where the goals come from
I don't agree that someone should say they should score a certain amount or they've failed, but I also don't think all we should expect is that they try hard.
Wieman and Albrighton lacked quality (Wieman more than Mark) but if you have that quality then add commitment and desire the goals will come. You stick to your Xx goals and assists if it keeps you happy, personally I would rather see players who want to be here, winning things is beyond us at this stage anyway.

Take a breath and read. I've never said we should set a goals and assist target, in the post you've quoted but failed to read I even say I don't agree with it.

I just said I expect more than just trying hard and being happy to be here. Yes albrighton and weimman lacked quality but you said nothing about that. You said trying hard and happy to be here and anything else is a bonus. I don't agree.

not just that but we have nobody to attack the ball either. We last looked dangerous with Collins, Dunne and Carew in ths box from corners

Reports now saying the agent demanding a fee so big we might Cancel the deal. Sure the club could do without this given our current predicament

Is it not same agent for Amavi & Gueye deals doubt he'd want to wreck a good thing.

Jordan Ayew edging closer to Aston Villa move

In one of the most lively transfer sagas involving a Ligue 1 player, Ghanaian attacker Jordan Ayew appears to be closing in on a move to Aston Villa after all.

The player went on strike and fled to England after Lorient refused an offer from Aston Villa which met their previous €10m valuation of the player.

Since then, Aston Villa have had a €14m offer accepted by Lorient for the player late yesterday. That is a fee excluding bonuses, with possibly another €2m being added on to that.

But the cost to Aston Villa is going to be even more. Our well informed colleagues at Ouest France confirmed this morning that while a fee agreement between the two clubs was now in place, a deal was not complete. According to one of the media outlet’s journalists, the player’s agent, Mark McKay is believed to be demanding an agent fee so gargantuan that Aston Villa have threatened to throw the whole deal. The player’s signing on fee is also currently another bone of contention.

Ayew should end up signing for Aston Villa, but at what cost? More undoubtedly to follow.

Bloody hell, if that world renowned publication Get French Football News says it then it must be true.

Awful writing. Someone has been watching too many cheesy American local TV news stations.

ffs this really is taking the piss now

by the end of it we will have close to half the Benteke money and he's not even that good

Think he will be a good signing, but you are right this is getting to be a joke! I would be tempted to tell Lorient and This agent exactly were the can shove said deal and move on to another bright speak striker. Time is money, and this transfer appears to be eating large amounts of both.

Ohh well, once he is in (or should I say if) I look forward to seeing him in the jersey, a lot of potential, just hope it's worth the hassle!
