January Transfer Speculation 2015

To be fair, Lambert is a crafty player who can drop off and create something, he could probably compliment Benteke quite well if played together.

Alternatively, he can replace Benteke and at this stage would probably do a lot more than Benteke based on his performances of late.

At 33, £5m doesn't represent the best value, but he would probably deliver something over the short time and last time I checked, really do need something for the short term.

RICKIE LAMBERT LATEST

There has been some speculation flying around social media thatAston Villa have bid £5million for Liverpool striker Rickie Lambert... but if you're wondering what SSN's Midlands reporter Pete Colley thinks (via Twitter)

"For those asking, there was interest in Lambert but it's not happening! Try and be as accurate as we can folks but things do change and not all those people out there in football tell the truth..."

Two Lamberts are better than one.

And none are better than two.

If it wasn't for P Lambert we couldn't in our wildest dreams even entertain the idea of signing Rickie.

Looking at your recent posts, I am assuming that you are on the wind-up?

My esteemed colleague @patmurphybbc now saying Aston Villa will not be signing Rickie Lambert ...

Pat Murphy also categorically said earlier today that we were not doing any business today whatsoever...then since then it's been confirmed Fox and Lambert were at Villa presumably trying to make things happen, followed by the Lambert link.

Surely Liverpool wouldn't let him go? Appreciate he's 33 and not played a great deal, but they hardly have options up front. If they got somebody else in then maybe but nobody is even rumoured?

Judging by a fair few fans forums of theirs, the general concencus is "let him go, he's better than simply sitting on our bench, £4-5m is good value"

Pete Colley on SSN just poo-pooed the Lambert link unfortunately.
