Is Moyes still on the Man U payroll earning silly money or did he get a fixed sum when he was fired?

(As always I rather we looked outside the UK if we're hiring a new manager)

might be wrong but I dont think any foreign manager with no UK mnagerial experience has ever saved a team in a relegation battle on a mid season appointment. look at Solskjaer and Magath last season

Pocahontas at Southampton did.

Pepe Mel at the Stripey Filth last season.  Antonio van Pulissimo at Palace.....

Southamtpon weren't in a relegation battle when Pochettino took over, although he undoubtedly did improve them.

Pepe Mel is a terrible example to use though.

The bloke is just a bad manager. I really didn't want him to be but he is. We can bang on about how little he's had to spend and injuries etc but he really doesn't help himself. For how long have we needed creativity in the team? How long has it been obvious that attacking coaching is non-existent, there's no movement, no ideas, everything is so static, 3 years of it can't be purely down to bad players, it's bad coaching too and Lambert really needs to take the blame for that.

We've been crying out for an attacking midfielder for years but Lambert's defence has always been that he's had no money, well Lerner gave him some money this summer and he chose to put spend £8m on Tom Cleverley, who has shown that he is nothing like the attacking player we need., which is what most of us suspected.

First it was the players were "bad apples" and moved out the club, then the coaching staff were bullying and then moved out the club, well maybe it's actually the manager who just isn't very good at his job?

There's got to be a better manager who can coach these players better. Would anyone turn their nose up at Steve McClaren now? I'd seriously much prefer him to Lambert.

Aston Villa fans are fuming after last night's defeat at QPR and have used our Facebook page to tell us that manager Paul Lambert should go.

The 2-0 loss made it five defeats on the bounce for Lambert's side - a shocking run during which they have failed to score a goal.

Lambert was scathing about the defending for the two Charlie Austin goals that lifted Harry Redknapp’s side off the foot of the table.

Supporters were quick to post their messages on our Facebook page this morning and they were almost unanimous in calling for the manager to leave Villa Park.

Here's a selection of fans' comments:

Stuart Avfc Hart: Sorry lambert but ur time is up u are clueless and when asked how your gonna change it you couldn’t answer the question TAXI

Frank Mcentee: Lambert is useless he should be ashamed to pick is wages up every month .The man is clueless and should go and go now.

Nick Alatti: I have followed Villa all my life but I am sick to death of them now. The manager, the owner have been on borrowed time for the last two years and it’s become unbearable to watch. This is the worst era in Villa’s history.

Twin Villans: Tactics, signings, selections. Lamberts just making it up as he goes along, he’s lost the plot and Keane appears to be another useless addition.

Paul Lawrie: a record breaker alright going to make it 6 in a row ....lambert out now.

Scott Pickering: I’m not happy with Lambert I paid to see the team train at villa park on the 30/10/14 I am not going now Lambert will get us out of the league its time for him to go someone call him a taxi.

Claire Hardwick: Lambert you gotta go now lost 5 games now, had enough now.

John Avfc Mulrine: Where the goals coming form. Every on noes are wide player can’t cross never change it till 70 minutes that cost us

Darren Clark: Tactics? What tactics! He’s completely inept and out of his depth. Needs to go back to managing teams like Colchester, that’s about his level. Mind you, if he stays then it won’t be long before we’re playing teams like Colchester ourselves!

Richard Hunt: Lambert out, enough is enough

Andy Neale-Mann: He has to go.....surely!

Karen Clayton: Lambert needs to go he useless he aint got a clue. Taxi waiting.

Mark Pearson: He’s had his time. He wasn’t good enough.

Terry Jones: Lambert go now you are not fit to manage a pub team mind you that,s what you have turned VILLA into for god sake admit you don;t know what you are doing.

Michael Knott: To much to write about here but the main one is continuing to use Agboglahor, when it is obvious to everybody that he is not Premier league standard and is just a passenger, time to give Robinson a run of games along with Grealish.

Ian Hughes: His post match comments sum the guy up. In genral we defended OK, the second goal was an individual error by Sanchez who in all honesty was the best player on the park. Its the system thats wrong and he has to change it, He is stiffling any creativity we have.

Andrea Kennerley: Taxi for Lambert

Stuart Powell: So instead of sorting it out, he just sat there all night messing about with a biro?!! The bloke is useless, has been from day one and will be until we finally rid ourselves of him and his clueless, inept, dire tactics. Another record broken, for all the wrong reasons. Just resign Lambert you idiot.

Steve Villan Yates: Lambert should’ve been sacked months ago but Lerner won’t get rid were doomed.

Neil Payne: Players have come and gone, only constant is the manager. Lambert has had long enough and proven he’s not up to the job. Time to go.

You can have your say on our Facebook page by clicking this link.

The local rags are now firmly in the camp that time for change is needed, I wonder how he will react?

Shocking from Lambert last night.  Weimann is crap, 9 times out of 10 everything breaks down as soon as the ball goes near him so why persist with him in a wide role for 70 minutes?  Surely Zog would of been a better option when it was obvious Weimann was playing terrible.  Why does Zog start previous games and then doesn't even get brought on when we need someone with a good touch and the ability to make something happen?  Why not bring on Cole to change things around and play 2 strikers with Cole in behind when our wing forwards were constantly getting out played by the Qpr fullbacks.  Are any of our midfield allowed to push up past the ball when we attack or is their role to sit back and offer the easy pass to the forwards when they run into a blind alley or miscontrol?

There is no real defence left for Lambert as he has shown on too many games now that he is seriously lacking the tactical nous to be a top manager.  Too stubborn and too old fashioned .  I've always backed him but it's becoming near impossible to support the tripe we are being served up on a way too regular basis.  His only chance of redemption is that he won't be sacked and will have time to put things right but I'm not very hopeful and can easily see us being relegated as things stand.

It'll all end in tears for Paul and when he does finally go he'll be right up there in our worst managers list, holding a lot of records he doesn't want.

and all with a nice settlement in his back pocket.

I know right? I should get into this football management lark.

The fact is we are putting a lot of faith in Paul Lambert. Many a manager would have gone earlier but we are being fed the line of a long term plan. I have been supportive but sooner or later I want to see progression. Next year? 5 years? When? Is he the right person for a long term plan. He had relative success at Norwich but in the grand scheme of things he is unproven at this level. The issue is he seems to be proving himself now and proving to be incompetent.

I just can't watch Villa anymore, this is what Lambert has reduced Villa to.  I've supported him as much as I can, but he's made me lose interest in the team that I love.  I've regretted sacrificing other things whenever I've watched this turgid displays.

He needs to go, the fans need to make a stance! The media need to know how unhappy we are.  If this was McLeish there would be uproar.

Bring in someone who will make us play some football!!!

I have not been a Lambert supporter since the end of last season when I got completely pissed off with gutless displays by the team and was one of the few who dissented when he was given a contract extension and took a lot of abuse and collected a few points off the mods in the process. In fact IIRC I said my feelings re Lambert getting a new contract was akin to someone posting a dog turd through my letterbox. Hey the bully boys ganged up and told me to look at the first 4 games?

I am not coming on to say I told you so but ask what are we as fans going to do to rid our club of this cancerous tumour called Lambert?

Lerner is a inbred knob and won't sack him because of disasterous results? What therefore can we do to get this situation to change? We go a goal down on Sunday and the atmosphere is going to be poisionous, is this going to get the message across to Lerner?

I recall your 'turd through the letterbox' post. Hopefully those same 'bully boys' that ganged up on you will now be gracious enough to admit that they were wrong.

First post! Last night I would have voted to sack him now. Having calmed down and looked at the table I voted give him until January. If we beat Spurs (lol) we go ahead of them by 2 pts. Crazy as that seems.

What annoys me most about this team is our lack of any ability to do the things in football that make you realise why you love the game. I’m talking about the goals in the minute before halftime that changes everything, the 3 goal turnaround in the last 10 minutes. When have you ever seen us with a head of steam absolutely bulldozing  team? I can only think of Sunderland 2 years ago and Norwich last year and on both of those occasions it was our 1 man Belgian bulldozer doing the damage.

For all the flukey wins and scraped results this team looks incapable of creating “something out of nothing”. It’s encapsulated by us having all that possession last night, away from home and never looking like scoring. At no point did you think a little one-two would put someone in one and one with the goalkeeper. Have we even had a 1v1 with a goalkeeper this year!?

What baffles is me is that this isn’t Lambert’s “style”, you could forgive McLeish, I’d say he’d play with 2 holding players in a game of 2 vs 2 with jumpers for goals. Lambert was responsible for Norwich who were the originals of what Southampton have done, he was responsible for the free flowing play with brilliant goals and no defence of 2 years ago.

What’s wrong? At this point it’s impossible to point to something in particular. We’re just really terrible. I’ve no idea what to whinge about, including the manager. Maybe there’s just a malaise around the club that sucks morale and belief. Maybe it’s a simple tactical shift that’s required and it will all click. I’ve absolutely no idea.

Been listening to Talk radio most of the morning . It seems the Villa have become a constant source of amusement,it's painful, it really is , but please do not compound my pain with the name Pullis . If he was any good he'd still be at Stoke , but they got rid , and why ? Becuase there is only so much banality a man can cope with . It's more than mid-table mediocrity I want for my club. So there Stan Collymore . Never trust a man who goes "dogging" .

English Villa fans could say that we've "looked abroad" since 2003 when David O'Leary took over from Graham Taylor. Two Irishmen, one Frenchman and, two Scotsmen and apart from MON - albeit with a £100m war chest - we have done very little.

I would like us to try to get Steve McLaren in to have a go. Not saying he's the perfect answer, and I know he would be another choice that would divide opinion but, he's probably as good as we could get right now and he's doing a decent job of it at Derby as well. Saying that, even he might think that his present job holds a better looking future than a job at the Villa!
