The club feel he has mislead them & now miss out on other targets. I don't have a clue how these things work, but if you know you can offer £X and not sure if it's enough, I'd figure out as pretty much the first thing is it and if not would stop wasting time. Not saying we didn't handle the negotiations right, maybe he mislead us. Just saying because it always surprises to hear about possible deals that collapse after days or weeks because of salary.
