Lambert is tactically inept. Y sit back against a team who love to keep the ball and pass it

Because if you close down too much you leave gaps for them to exploit.

He didn't play that formation against Liverpool, should hav played same team swapped in albrighton for gabby

Because Liverpool have more ability to unlock a stubborn defence than Everton, if we'd played like that against Plop, Suarez would've torn us to shreds. Plus Liverpool don't keep the ball in the same way Everton do. Everton are more slow build up types and try exploit players switching off and use the wings. Liverpool play a more fast and free flowing game and get behind the defence with Suarez and Sturridge, the best way to negate that is to stop them putting those balls through.

If it wasn't for one mistake by Vlaar after 75 minutes, and a world class free kick, our tactics today would have completely stopped Everton today.

Didn't see the game, so my comments are based on what I have heard.

Despite us being a goal up for a long period, we was not in the game offensively. If you can't keep the ball days like this are going to be plentiful and injuries are going to arrive like corporation buses, we are constantly panicking in defending the ball and defending in sheer numbers.

i was reading comments about our tactics being spot on.... as soon as the opposition scored the tactics were shit and the selection was wrong. It seems like a goal against completely changes some folks view of the game.

As much as i enjoyed the result the game on Wednesday night could easily have gone against us, WE ARE BRITTLE.

We have decent results against Southampton & Albion and in the space of a few days play Fulham & Everton and can't get near to keeping the ball

Something is very clearly not right for me.

Ps Don't get me wrong I wasn't expecting anything at Everton, but the manner in which we toss away advantages is concerning, there are clearly players of ours who are not up to this standard.

Tactically poor from Lambert. Took a winning team high on confidence and totally rearranged it.

Surely he's seen enough football to know that a side that sacrifices 80% if the pitch to the opposition will inevitably concede.

This place is going to be horrendous tonight.

First half tactics spot on, second half tactics wrong.

Bacuna MOTM.

What do you mean? The tactic were the same in both halfs

And it clearly worked in the first half. But in the second, when they found their stride a bit, we should have kept the ball a bit, rather than just giving it straight back.

And it's halves.

Lambert's poor tactics, we were **** dreadful in the second-half, don't even think we had shot on target.

AH! The voice of reason. Totally agree. Anyone expecting us to go up there and play an open game against them at their place with their home record is deluded.

I completely agree, why would he take Vlaar off if he wasn't injured, but he didn't seem to be carrying a knock coming off, and if he was injured, why not bring on a defender as a like for like sub.

It looked to me as a desperate attempt to try go more attacking after the equaliser.

Yes it seemed more of a tactical subsitution. Vlaar did not give the appearance of being injured but guess we'll find out or maybe not!

Got to hand it to Lambert, after a decent couple of performances, he knows how to bring people back down to earth with a bump.  Awful again today, and whoever thought that we didn't need to add to the squad needs shooting.

And see that Grant Holt?  You know how everybody said he was rubbish?  He's rubbish.

no disrespect but you say the above like those things don't or aren't supposed to happen.

we concede wonder goals and make comedy defensive mistakes virtually every game

but thats the problem.. we dont have a great defence.. theres always a mistake or two in there... we rarely win 1-0. We should always attack teams as our strengths are Benteke.. Gabby and Wiemann (when hes on form).

Do any other teams play three at the back because I always thought it was outdated in modern football?

Liverpool have a few times this season I think

Juventus a big enough name for you?

Not really, but thanks for the sarcasm. They can keep three at the back...watching Italian football is tedious at best...
