Are we turning into the new Stoke?

We have 3 tall first team strikers and you mentioned 1 of them as a footballer. So who are the blockhead strikers (you suggest plural) we are signing? Because I only count one (if you can call Kozak a 'blockhead'. Helenius is anything but a blockhead. His height has nothing to do with his game.

Of course the Dortmund model is more than just buying players dirt cheap that turn out to be quality. It's their style of play...it's all very concise and clinical, we are attempting to emulate that as well from what I can see. Every time Dortmund go forward you feel they could score a goal...towards the end of last season there was elements of that within our team.

 

Since then we've only signed one more striker. Strange that you've had this change of heart after the Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Rotherham games when we did everything but hoofball and kicking it up to a big striker.

I think the Stoke team of the mid 70s would be a nearer comparison when they had the likes of Alan Hudson, Geoff Hurst, Peter Shilton and Jimmy Greenhoff in their team. The days of hoofball ended when another manager from Scotland left us supernova26.

I think psychical strength is the main key, as someone said before all our players look weak and skinny/lightweight. We beat Liverpool but their fans are often complaining how 'lightweight' their players are (see 3-1 vs stoke also). Even Barca have some big hard nuts in their team. We have a team of weaklings/kids who are just knocked or blocked off the ball easy. If we get some new players in, make them big and strong.

I don't get this line of thinking that says that tall strikers can't have technique - Benteke's one of our tallest players yet he's also probably our most technically gifted.

I also watched Rovers during the Big Sam days and Villa don't play anything like that.

We probably have the smallest midfield in the Premier League...we've only got a few big strikers and I haven't seen Kozac play but Benteke and Helenius are BOTH better with the ball at their feet.
