Expectation levels are high, you'd think we have what it takes to beat a pretty poor Newcastle team that are going to be a real car crash this season - BUT this is the type of match we always choke in. I'd be happy with a scrappy 1-0 win, we just need points on the board after 2 defeats. 3 defeats in a row and the pressure will start to build. You know where we are unlucky to lose against 2 of the larger teams then have that horrid game where we are all expecting a win against supposedly lesser opposition only to play really poorly, choke and tamely lose the game....This especially seems to happen at home! This game has all those hallmarks & any win will be a true sign that things are taking a turn for the better at long last.....Here's hoping! The last 2 times I remember Villa trying a new attacking formation was the 6-0 loss against Newcastle and the Chris Sutton 1st half hat-trick inspired 4-0 defeat against Blackburn. Got to say I've the same niggling feeling about this one based on 20+ years of previous experience. It would be classic Villa to just roll over with Newcastle there for the taking. Lose and it all looks like Arsenal was a flash in the pan and doom and gloom with start to rear its ugly head again. Rightly or wrongly. It's vital we put on a show though and absolutely do not lose. But if Newcastle suddenly decide to click then we could be in trouble be causes they have some very very good players Our home form is very poor and like others have said we have to learn to break teams down and get the balance between defence and attack right. We also need to learn to start playing in the first half of matches. They have a full strength team to pick from with cabaye Remy Taylor and tiote all back and fit and the thought of Ben arfa and Remy running at our defence scares me I'm just hoping we are ready to give a team a thorough beating now we ain't playing a top side!
