BOF Posted September 1, 2015 Author Moderator Share Posted September 1, 2015 Edit : In response to your first response Ah right. Gotcha. I'm not denying United lost in all of this btw. I just think Real showed an arrogance that means they lost too.
BOF Posted September 1, 2015 Author Moderator Share Posted September 1, 2015 What do Real mean when they say United didn't open negotiations until yesterday? Negotiations on what exactly? There was no bid. Real don't need permission to place a bid. They don't have to wait for United's go-ahead. Their statement needs to be read very much with a cynical eye because they will paint a positive picture of themselves. They never mentioned all the times they talked about the player in the media over the past year I notice. I think no good comes from any of this for the three side involved but I still say Real are scum with a terrible sense of entitlement.

Genie
It is odd that it talks about Man Utd only opening negotiations yesterday when they are the selling club. As the buyer the emphasis is on Madrid to get the deal done in time. Clearly Man Utd did not want to lose theit goalkeeper and player of the year for the last 2 seasons. Strange stance to take blaming utd for not bending over and jumping to their tune.
rodders0223
Man United have tried to be billy big bollocks and it has cost than 20m+ I am all for not bowing down to the big clibs(lol) but there is a time and a place. That club is a **** shambles nowadays. A shambles. I would sack the chief exec and sack LVG tomorrow.
villakram
I'm delighted.. 30m less for Utd and a whole bunch of media pressure and that's not even counting the random signing of a kid for a kings ransom. Real will be somewhat alarmed as Navas is pretty iffy. If I was De Gea I'd demand an extra few million as a sighing on bonus/apology.
Czechlad
I think they will struggle especially if Rooney continues his poor form. Going into a season with cups, champions league, and trying to maintain top 4 with only Rooney, Martial, and Wilson as your strikers is so risky. Rooney will make or break their season. Genie
So childish but so funny. Man utd respond to Real Madrid statement with one of their own on their website http://www.manutd.com/en/News-And-Features/Football-News/2015/Sep/manchester-united-statement-in-response-to-real-madrid-comments-on-david-de-gea-transfer.aspx UNITED STATEMENT ON DE GEA TRANSFER Manchester United notes Real Madrid’s statement on the attempt to sign David De Gea and sell Navas to Manchester United. The club feels compelled to provide some clarification with the following facts. • Manchester United did not seek contact from Real Madrid for the sale of David. David is a key member of our squad and the club’s preference was not to sell. • No offer was received for David until yesterday. • At lunchtime yesterday, Real Madrid made its first offer to buy David. A deal was agreed between the clubs, which included Navas being transferred to Old Trafford. The deals were dependent on each other. • In the last several hours of the process, with Navas at the Real Madrid training ground, Real Madrid were controlling the documentation processes of David, Navas and Real Madrid. Manchester United was in control only of the documentation of Manchester United. • Manchester United sent transfer documents for both players to Real Madrid at 20:42 BST. David’s documentation was returned by Real Madrid to Manchester United without the signatory page at 22:32 BST. • At 22:40 BST, minutes before the deadline, major changes to the documentation came through to Manchester United which immediately put the deals at risk. • Only at 22:55 BST were the documents that are needed to cancel David’s contract received by Manchester United from Real Madrid. • At this point Navas’ documentation was still not returned by Real Madrid. • At 22:58 BST, the transfer agreement was sent back by Manchester United, uploaded onto TMS and accepted – all before the deadline. • It is our understanding that the deals couldn’t happen because: - Real Madrid didn’t upload David’s documents onto TMS in time (Manchester United did) - Real Madrid didn’t upload David’s documents to the Spanish league in time, per reports it seems some 28 minutes after the deadline • The fact that Manchester United filed the papers on time was acknowledged by the Football Association, who offered to support that claim in any discussions with FIFA. The club offered this assistance, as well as its own timestamped documents to Real Madrid but they have chosen not to go down this route. Manchester United acts appropriately and efficiently in its transfer dealings. The club is delighted that its fan-favourite double Player of the Year, David de Gea, remains a Manchester United player. Zatman
Think United come out of this window stinking, refuse to play your best player, waste a load of money on an unproven kid and so far for me Schweinsteiger looks about
VillaChris
I suppose the one positive is if they can quickly screw De Gea's head back on properly (which won't be easy as he must be hacked off with both United and Madrid) they still have a world class keeper on their books and he will be needed as we saw at Swansea the United back 4 isn't all it's cracked up to be and Romero struggles to save shots when forwards can actually kick them on target. What I find bonkers is how short they are upfront, don't understand it at all. From last seaosn they've lost Januazj, RVP, Falcao, Hernandez and Di Maria. Now I accept none of them were that great but they're still bodies and cover. As far as I can see the 3-4 options now for upfront are Rooney, Martial, Wilson, Memphis, Young, Fellani and Mata. Now remember last season was an anomaly for United. They had no CL and played 6 cup ties so just 44 games in the season. This season it will be more like 60 + with champions league. I fail to see how that is enough especially when people like Fellani and Young do have good runs of form but never are good enough when you get to latter stages of champions league. Memphis has done fack all in the league so far so he needs time as will obviously Martial and Rooney looks in awful form so I'd be amazed if he manages 25 league goals this season. Stevo985 Posted September 1, 2015 VT Supporter Share Posted September 1, 2015 Incidentally, the commentator on the Arsenal game on the weekend mentioned that the Premier League had distributed a recording to the media with the correct pronunciations of every player on there (it was in response to him pronouncing Bellerin as "Bay-er-in") So I wouldn't be surprised to hear a lot of commentators suddenly pronouncing foreign names "correctly"
